I have a pain in my right side that I don’t THINK is an internal organ exploding, but if it could be. What I’m saying is, if you don’t see me on Facebook or Instagram at all tomorrow, maybe text me?
Sunday:
Devil’s Hopyard – either it was named after the time the devil was seen jumping around in the pools at the bottom of the falls or after a landowner named Dobble who had a farm near there.
It’s very warm.
A two photo shoot kind of day
Monday:
He takes his Christmas gift list circling very seriously.
CUDDLE TIME
Tuesday:
MOMMY THERE’S A MAN IN THE TANK WITH THE FISHES
Aquarium date with some of our favorite people
Bacon, caramelized onions, tomato, blue cheese on sour dough. JEALOUS?
Wednesday:
I can’t remember WHY I put the kitchen stools in our bedroom but the gingers enjoy them.
Special Helper Day
I like pretending that is my house.
Thursday:
GOODNIGHT CAROLINE
We have a train table he never plays with at home. But the one at the library is THE BEST.
The cat found her spot on the new couch
Friday:
I think she has her princesses mixed up.
Showing off his art at my parent-teacher conference
My kids are weird.
Saturday:
They spent the full length of a movie like this. Unfortunately the movie was Equestria Girls.
TV, screaming toddler, Facebook…and I wonder why it takes me FOREVER to get things done.
Fall in a cookie – pumpkin, hazelnut spread, butterscotch chips. Unfortunately I don’t really like butterscotch and E doesn’t like pumpkin, so we can’t tell if these are actually delicious.
I secretly just want to sleep all day tomorrow, but we’re doing more fun stuff instead. Maybe I can sleep all day on the second of never. I’ve got a date with the elliptical trainer on Tuesday and that’s almost as good as napping. Especially because of the massage bed afterwards.

My excuse for being so late is “The Holiday Weekend Confuses Me Every Time”. Just ask the poor cashier and Big Y who wasn’t quite sure how to handle me falling to my knees and shouting “Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!” when I asked why the beer curtain was down on a Saturday (it was Sunday).
Do I need to explain “beer curtain”? Is that a thing anywhere else?
Sunday:
Faaaaaalllll! Leaves!!!!!
Applessssssss!
Tank tops and snow boooooooots!!!!
Monday:
More fall. That’s really all I’ve got right now.
We both needed a nap on Monday.
I’m really excited to finish editing these.
Tuesday:
Cool fish sculpture that fills with water when it rains so the fake fish have somewhere to fake swim.
Every curb.
It was a really good way to spend the afternoon.
Wednesday:
Who can pass up a deal like that?!?!
Ready for a terrible storm…in the children’s museum.
MY PRECIOUSSSSSSS.
Thursday:
My only photo: Caroline staring out the door for Daddy. I FEEL YOU, GIRL.
Friday:
Pre-school selfies
Aquarium date
Twins?
Fall leaves & 80 degrees
Last farmer’s market of the season (so they BURNED IT DOWN!!!)(kidding)
AND a grown up date with some of my favorite people and a mountain of food
Saturday:
GORGEOUS lakefront property for my morning photo session
Basically everywhere in Connecticut is gorgeous right now.
Despite his face, he was very happy to be there.
And now I chain myself to the couch for the next week to catch up on my work. I might stay up way past my bedtime to get some personal editing done too, since I FINALLY dressed up my family and tried for some Christmas card shots of our own but owe photos to 6 other families first. Once again, NOT COMPLAINING, being busy is the best thing ever. I just need to get faster…and maybe turn off my internet connection so I can’t get distracted while I work. Stupid Candy Crush.

Back in the photo session saddle again, which means my iPhone is feeling pretty neglected. The kids actually ASKED me to take their picture this week. It’s a miracle!
Sunday:
Celebrity sighting at Type-A! It’s hard to tell, but it’s Minnie Mouse.
Ballet slipper = my absolute new favorite color. MinuteClinic had the best swag.
Oh, OK. I can do that.
Monday:
The waiting-for-the-bus dance
I could not love his school picture more.
Tuesday:
Verdict: good, but not amazing.
Clark Farms! Donkeys! Goats! Sheeps!
And a giant slide!!!!
Wednesday:
She dressed herself, then started carrying around that kitty in a box (?? I think it was swag from something????) as a purse.
Sometimes, I have to step back from my photo sessions and do one for ME in the location I want.
Open house at Caroline’s preschool. That was our most recent family photo.
Thursday:
MORE swag from MinuteClinic. I love those guys.
Sitting shotgun in the drop off line for school (which means we got there on time for once!)
Thursdays are for napping.
Friday:
My Friday morning newborn session lived at the end of a dirt road.
I’m going to be SO SAD when it gets too cold to shove the kids out on the porch and tell them not to come back inside.
Saturday:
I’ve been binging on home improvement shows. Caroline has been binging on vintage My Little Ponies.
Playing red light green light at Gillette Castle
Very nice, Connecticut. I approve.
The weather has been abnormally warm all week – even if it did rain today – so the fall colors still haven’t peaked. Good news for next weekend’s photo sessions! And maybe I’ll even have time to take some of my OWN family pictures before Christmas. Miracles do happen! Except it hasn’t happened yet, so don’t hold your breath.
More real blog posts coming soon! Like super soon. Less than 12 hours from now. I have to much to catch up on.

This post is late and I got less than 3 hours of sleep in the last 24 hours and I barely remember how I got home from the airport last night and Caroline is sitting on my lap with her slightly terrifying My Little Pony Equestria Girl introducing her to all the princess dolls and I have 5 photo sessions to edit so what I’m saying is if this post makes none sense don’t be surprised.
Sunday:
Princess Pirate Butterfly Caroline’s new best friend, the Dragon Ice Cream dragon
Evan defends his family against a zombie puppet
Sleepy, smudgy butterfly
Who knew a Kohl’s parking lot could be so inspiring?
Monday:
I don’t even know.
Sand castles on our deserted beach
About 20 seconds later Caroline and her friends smashed them all.
Tuesday:
They’re having a mini-conference on how best to beg me for that candy on the counter
Cleaning and trying out my headphones for an upcoming post
Shooties. Verdict after wearing them all weekend: Wise choice! Very comfortable for high heels, lots of compliments, only felt slightly like I have hooves.
Wednesday:
Who is this huge person going to preschool and where is my baby?
Another stunning fall day in Connecticut (Town Hall)
Watching Monsters University (again! We saw it in the theater!) with the kids
Thursday:
I took a picture of my parking garage level/number to I didn’t have to remember when I can back at 1 am Monday. BRILLIANT. Worked perfectly.
Boston!
Random MARTA station in Georgia where my friend Miranda picked me up!
Friday:
Average attention span in 2012: 8 SECONDS. Now you know why we needed a session on writing engaging content.
All cleaned up for dinner with my other Minute Clinic bloggers at Type A
The crazy cab ride was worth it to get to this place. AMAAAAAAZING.
Saturday:
In case you were wondering, THAT is an Equestria Girl. I managed to snag one when they were breaking down the booth on Sunday.
My next DIY, obvs.
Atlanta was really pretty
Step 1 in getting back to my real life: write down all the stuff on the calendar I’ve been ignoring because it was “in October” and “October is a really long time from now”. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh <– the sound I just made looking at the stack of papers from the kids’ schools talking about open house nights and PTO meetings and pizza parties. Back to work!

I actually saw my husband this week! On more than one occasion! It was actually the best week we’ve had in a really long time, even if the kids were so exhausted by Sunday they both passed out at 5 pm.
Sunday:
Early morning photo session at the arboretum
Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream at Taste of Mystic
More perfect weather. Well done, Connecticut.
Monday:
Playing SO NICELY together before school
Daddy met the bus for the first time ever
GO TO CHILI’S AND ORDER THIS THING IMMEDIATELY
Tuesday:
Still wicked happy to get on the bus for school every day
Twirling is her favorite
Squeaky clean
Wednesday:
I AM READY FOR THE BEACH WHY ARE WE NOT AT THE BEACH?
NOW we are at the beach. He spent 2 hours in the (cold) water.
FASHUN
Thursday:
Imaginary hopscotch
Basically all my pictures are waiting for a bus these days.
Hide and seek! BET YOU CAN’T FIND CAROLINE.
Friday:
Eat this with cream cheese and/or honey.
BFFs
I can’t help it, this might be my favorite set of photos ever (also, Evan took this, he was like “TAKE A PICTURE OF THE PRINCESS!!!”)
Saturday:
“Daddy made yummy pancakes!” he says in the pancake restaurant.
Fairy Princess Caroline reads to Candy Crush Dragon Daddy
And Daddy reads to the gingers
I had forgotten how nice it was to have someone to help with bedtimes or go out to dinner with or help wrangle the kids at the apple orchard. I know I’m not a single parent – NOT EVEN CLOSE – but doing all the parenting on a day to day basis was really starting to wear me down. But a week of school and TWO meals out (not to mention a beach day where the kids built sand castles while I read a magazine) plus seeing my husband enough times that our conversation didn’t go like this: “HiIhavetobebackatworkinsixhoursbutIneededtotellyouIamoutofdeoderantandalso
canyoufindmykhakihatIloveyougoodnightzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.”
I don’t have a lot of hope the next week will be as nice, but I have two super fun things coming up (a Saturday in NYC with the kids and THREE DAYS in Atlanta without the kids) that are going to make September just totally fly by.
