I may know why you’re single
Thursday, February 4th, 2010I had a really clever and original idea for tomorrow’s Baby Evan is 10 Months Old! post, and in preparation I did an internet image search for “eHarmony profile”. This was the third most popular search result:
Now, I’m not saying a drawing of a hippo playing a harp is the WORST choice ever for a dating website profile, but it may not give potential suitors the best possible first impression. May I suggest a robot playing volleyball or a cat doing geometry instead?
Out of curiosity I then searched “bad dating profile photos” and was disappointed the results weren’t especially funny or terrible. I suspect Google didn’t understand the question at all, since this was on the front page of my search:
Clearly, the BEST dating profile picture EVER. I would totally date that guy. He’s a doctor with excellent taste in ties. I wonder if I’m his type?
Hipstamatic
Thursday, January 14th, 2010One of the things I like best about my iPhone (OH DIDN’T YOU KNOW? I GOT AN IPHONE. MAYBE I FORGOT TO MENTION IT.) is the camera/video recorder. I loving being able to take a photo and upload it to Twitter or Facebook without having to mess with the cord and the laptop and resizing. I think Mormor (Grandma in Swedish) also likes that feature, especially when it means she gets to see a picture of Baby Evan standing for the first time only two minutes after it happened. I’m gonna get his first steps on tape any day now, so expect some shaky, joyful scream filling footage sometime next week.
(Isn’t technology awesome? Think about how far we’ve come since we were kids, what with the film and the developing and postage stamps? I bet by the time Baby Evan has his own Baby Baby Evan he’ll just think “Hey Mom should see this” and whatever he’s looking at with be automatically transmitted directly into my brain. Um, actually that’s kind of creepy. Never mind. Let’s just stick with iPhones.)
ANYWAYS, one of the apps I have is Hipstamatic. I’ve had tons of fun with it this week. Here’s what it does:
Weekend Fun Photos
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009As I may have mentioned a bazillion or so times, we went down to Pennsylvania to visit my best friend Erin and her husband Mitch for their son Reid’s christening last weekend. And what goes better with infants and church than a beer factory tour? Yuengling is E’s OMG SO GOOD THE BEST EVER FAVORITE beer and they don’t sell it in Connecticut. Sadly, due to family/baby/timing issues we missed the free sample at the end of the tour. E swears he’s been scarred for life and may never recover, but I think the 3 4 5 many bottles he drank Saturday night definitely helped.
They still make beer here during the week but since it was the weekend we didn't get to see any actual production.
The gift shop was oddly lacking in any Yuengling brand baby items.
This is definitely what we're doing to our tree this year.
Some father-son bonding in the bottling building.
The stained glass window cuts down on the sun's reflection off the giant shiny tanks. And is also very pretty.
Erin and her very cooperative Baby Reid, who slept through the whole tour. The blur in the background is Mitch.
My favorite part of the tour: During prohibition, the feds came and built up a brick wall to close off the beer caves. Luckily, Yuengling was still allowed to make a limited amount of beer which was available by doctor's prescription. For who you may ask? Pregnant women and nursing mothers. BREASTFEEDING FTW!
Doesn't E look excited to have TWO babies? At lease Reid and Evan are adorable.
My attempt to pose Baby Evan in his adorable church sweater. This whole mobility thing is severely damaging my picture taking ability.
Ok, good enough.
Creepy Crawler
Saturday, October 17th, 2009Baby Evan has stopped rolling or spinning in circles all the time and has started trying to crawl. When I saw him push up on his honest to God hands and knees the other day, I full on gasped and covered my mouth. Quick, to the fainting couch! Bring me my smelling salts! My stars, my child is growing up so fast! I know I should be happy he’s developing right on schedule and be exited for his new skills but it’s hard not to miss the lump that just lay around looking cute instead of rolling under the bookcase and trying to eat the power cords. Crawling means he can escape, especially when I’m trying to do funny stuff to take pictures of him. I’ll miss this:
Amazon was having a sale on babies, but the shipping costs were outrageous.
Peek a boo! But I'm still trapped in this basket. For now mwahahahahaha!
If you think I'm going to sit still and let you dress me like this once I can crawl away you are sorely mistaken.
