My Week(161) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, December 1st, 2013

Did lots of things. Am tired. Kids are tired. Zzzzzzzzzz.

Monday:

Processed with VSCOcam

LOOK MY POPCORN CAUGHT FIRE. GET IT?

Processed with VSCOcam

Trip #1 to the grocery store. We did buy cookies. We forgot a turkey.

Processed with VSCOcam

Visiting their lobster friends. That’s what they call them. I don’t have the heart to explain those aren’t the same lobsters as last week.

Monday:

Processed with VSCOcam

It was freezing on the pier but the sun (and all the happiness) warmed my cold heart.

Processed with VSCOcam

My TV babysitter earned her paycheck this week.

Processed with VSCOcam

Go buy this book. HILARIOUS.

Tuesday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Real street fashion: scuffed boots and yoga pants.

Processed with VSCOcam

Evan loves his Duplos and Caroline loves creepy naked dolls

Processed with VSCOcam

I don’t know how she doesn’t have nightmares.

Wednesday:

Processed with VSCOcam

RUN AND GET A TURKEY BEFORE THEY ARE GONE, SLACKER

Processed with VSCOcam

They put extra ginger in the pumpkin pie <3

Processed with VSCOcam

Making pies is exhausting.

Thursday:

Processed with VSCOcam

It’s sparkling cider.

Processed with VSCOcam

NO REALLY IT’S JUST CIDER I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE HE LEARNED THAT.

Processed with VSCOcam

Thankful

Friday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Instead of shopping, we visited our favorite places.

Processed with VSCOcam

She met Santa.

Processed with VSCOcam

Hot cocoa and a lollipop = best day ever

Processed with VSCOcam

Watching the town tree lighting

Saturday:

Processed with VSCOcam

They FINALLY built a playground at the zoo!

Processed with VSCOcam

Those are yesterday’s lollipops they brought to the parade

Processed with VSCOcam

Our local parade is adorable, if not very fancy.

Considering it was only 30 degrees all week, we spent a TON of time outside. My kids don’t care. They were born in New England*. Today Caroline took off her jacket and her hoodie and ran around in just a shirt.  But despite the temps we had a really great week.

Now I am throwing myself FULL FORCE into Caroline’s birthday party. Luckily “princess” isn’t the most original theme, so just grabbing pink or sparkly or sparkly pink stuff is pretty easy. I just need to get my house in order so I can start putting things up before I buy yet another princess tent and realize I don’t have anywhere to put FOUR of them. Tomorrow I’m going to let her pick out the ugliest, most ridiculous princess cake we can find to order from ShopRite. I’m so excited.

*This logic fails since I was born in Massachusetts and I’m freezing.

My Week(160) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, November 24th, 2013

Caroline talked me into rented one of the Barbie animated movies – something about magic pink horses? – and it was just about as awful as you can imagine. I would rather watch one million episodes of My Little Pony than anything Barbie-themed ever again.

Sunday:

Processed with VSCOcam

A bear, a Wuzzle and an angry bird walk into a bar…

Processed with VSCOcam

Weird things I drank today: apple cider vinegar in grapefruit juice, chia seeds in lemon water.

Processed with VSCOcam

Sleeping face.

Processed with VSCOcam

The school’s Thanksgiving program was a fruit salad (my job was to send in a cantaloupe)…

And a performance of some songs about turkeys and family

Processed with VSCOcam

Tiny Dunkin Fan.

Friday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Proof everyone – even Princesses – loves Target

Processed with VSCOcam

I think there are some kids under all that hair

Processed with VSCOcam

CLEARLY we needed an organizational system

Saturday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Maybe the highlight of the week.

Processed with VSCOcam

“Mommy I’m going to do my pose and Caroline is going to do her pose and you take a picture, OK?”

Processed with VSCOcam

If I could go back in time and start househunting again in CT, I wouldn’t even consider anywhere but Mystic.

I can’t believe this week is Thanksgiving already, especially because right after Thanksgiving it’s December. I’m not ready for December. I need way more than 2 week to finish getting ready for Caroline’s birthday party…and WAY WAY more than 2 weeks after that before Christmas. I am not prepared. AT ALLLLLLL.

My Week(159) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, November 17th, 2013

I set a goal for myself to take more interesting, photographically complex, technically strong iPhone photos, since those are all things I’m working on in my real photography. I failed. Maybe next week.

Sunday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Waiting in line is boring. Thank goodness there are benches for lounging.

Processed with VSCOcam

The Carle <3

Processed with VSCOcam

Practicing their cheers

Monday:

Processed with VSCOcam

The ticket cashier printed extra “tickets” for the kids and the ticket puncher punched their “tickets” for them. We love Metro-North.

Processed with VSCOcam

Processed with VSCOcam

Bounce house birthday = kids who slept really great

I cannot even believe how fast November is going. I have less than a month until Caroline’s 3rd birthday party (princess themed this year!) and I’ve done almost nothing. THAT IS SO UNLIKE ME. I don’t even have invitations yet. If anyone has this work-life balance thing figured out let me know, because so far I suck at it – and I can do 75% of my work from my couch.

My Week(158) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, November 10th, 2013

I have a pain in my right side that I don’t THINK is an internal organ exploding, but if it could be. What I’m saying is, if you don’t see me on Facebook or Instagram at all tomorrow, maybe text me?

Sunday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Devil’s Hopyard – either it was named after the time the devil was seen jumping around in the pools at the bottom of the falls or after a landowner named Dobble who had a farm near there.

Processed with VSCOcam

It’s very warm.

Processed with VSCOcam

A two photo shoot kind of day

Monday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Aquarium date with some of our favorite people

Processed with VSCOcam

Wednesday:

Processed with VSCOcam

I can’t remember WHY I put the kitchen stools in our bedroom but the gingers enjoy them.

Processed with VSCOcam

Special Helper Day

Processed with VSCOcam

I like pretending that is my house.

Thursday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Saturday:

Processed with VSCOcam

They spent the full length of a movie like this. Unfortunately the movie was Equestria Girls.

Processed with VSCOcam

TV, screaming toddler, Facebook…and I wonder why it takes me FOREVER to get things done.

saturday3

Fall in a cookie – pumpkin, hazelnut spread, butterscotch chips. Unfortunately I don’t really like butterscotch and E doesn’t like pumpkin, so we can’t tell if these are actually delicious.

I secretly just want to sleep all day tomorrow, but we’re doing more fun stuff instead. Maybe I can sleep all day on the second of never. I’ve got a date with the elliptical trainer on Tuesday and that’s almost as good as napping. Especially because of the massage bed afterwards.

My Week(157) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, November 3rd, 2013

It really might as well be week one million. It feels like week one million.

Sunday:

Processed with VSCOcam

I hung out with the cutest, chillest baby ever at the Community Baby Shower

Processed with VSCOcam

My teeny little table showing off my work

Processed with VSCOcam

Don’t worry, I pulled over before I took this picture out the car window of the regatta in the river

Monday:

Processed with VSCOcam

I took this picture AND threw that ball. Impressed????

Processed with VSCOcam

School makes him tired.

Processed with VSCOcam

Princess Sadface was sad, so we had lots of extra cuddles

Tuesday:

Processed with VSCOcam

I bought ALL THE GROCERIES. I also broke my crock pot (the second one!) so I can’t make half the stuff I planned.

Processed with VSCOcam

I like this spot.

Processed with VSCOcam

Evan likes this spot too.

Wednesday:

Processed with VSCOcam

Processed with VSCOcam

Processed with VSCOcam

Trick or treating at the fancy houses

Processed with VSCOcam

They actually liked handing out candy more than collecting it

Friday:

Processed with VSCOcam

It wasn’t actually raining, but the gingers do not care. Umbrellas make them look jaunty.

Processed with VSCOcam

WTF Target, it’s only NOVEMBER FIRST.

Processed with VSCOcam

I wasted fancy hair and spanx on a lousy event for E’s work.

Saturday:

Processed with VSCOcam

My assistant at the morning photo shoot got a liiiiitle dirty

Processed with VSCOcam

We have too many couches right now, but at least it means they can watch iPad OVER THERE and leave me alone.

Processed with VSCOcam

Yes, she is wearing her costume AGAIN. At least it was at a costume party.

E’s submarine was commission on Saturday, which means they’re one step closer to being a fully functioning boat that goes to sea. That is both good news (no more shipyard!) and bad news (deployments) but it also means he’s going to be working even more over the next couple of weeks. Since this is still the busy season for pictures too, I suspect there will be a lot of late nights for the next month. Although it hardly matters now, since it’s 4:55 pm and PITCH BLACK outside. Thanks for nothing, daylight savings time.

In blog news: I’m about 3 meals into a brand new round of What’s For Dinner – which I haven’t done in a crazy long time – and it’s nice to be cooking new stuff again. I can only handle taco salad and spaghetti so many times before I give up and let my family eat pop tarts and grapes for dinner. So watch for that sometime next week!
