My Week(80) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

Despite the fact that it rained – a lot, or at least it felt like a lot – this week, we certainly made it out of the house every day. Which is why I just ate a giant ice cream sundae to celebrate surviving.

Sunday:

Tiny hockey player

I cleaned Caroline's room. It lasted 45 seconds, until Evan found the puzzles.

What, you don't plan your garden while watching Game of Thrones?

Monday:

We borrowed this stroller from a friend and Caroline is in LOVE with it. If anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know.

Playdate lunch - mac'n'cheese and watermelon

WHOA, WHAT IS THIS?? (Answer: soft serve from Sea Swirl)

Tuesday:

A rare moment of peace in a shared cart

He used his magic ginger powers on me. Kid is unstoppable.

Evening self portrait

 Wednesday:

Oh looks, it's raining! Wet!

I've put this damn floor puzzle together every day this week.

Sure. Whatever. Just get out of my house.

Thursday:

POOR CHOICES CAROLINE

Form a line, please! I'm in the front!

Giant bubbles are fun

Friday:

E wore his fancy clothes for a boat thing - I lay in bed.

Beautiful day for Stroller Strides

Caroline learned to say "quack quack". It's the cutest thing ever.

Saturday:

For Mother's Day, I bought myself flowers that will last a lot longer than a bouquet

Caroline was unimpressed by the dinosaur tracks.

It would have been cooler with a voiceover that said "WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH!!!"

Despite getting to sleep in Saturday, it was a REALLY long day so as soon as I finish typing this post I’m going to bed. I dragged my very patient husband off to meet my internet friend Kim – who was just as awesome in real life as she’s been online for the past 3 years. The boys had an amazing time running (away) together and Evan cried all the way home because he didn’t want to leave his fwiends. It was adorable. And also exhausting. Sunday is more hockey, more gardening and my first attempt at making artichokes for dinner. Happy Mother’s Day!

Water Babies

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

This is basically a Wordless Wednesday post wasted on a Tuesday, but I feel like I used up all the words in my head yesterday. Speaking of words, my friend Amy and I share a hive mind (or maybe a love of stalking snarky blog criticism sites) because she posted a letter to her son about why she blogs yesterday too that you should check out too. Or if you’re in the mood for adorable ginger children in a hotel pool pictures, stick around.

Someone learned to hold his breath!

Is that suit the cutest or what?

OK, the baby's pretty cute too.

Bish, please is her specialty

My Week(78) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

After a boring first half of the week, we went up to Rochester, New York for my grandfather’s memorial service. It wasn’t exactly a super fun good time!!! but it was nice to see so much of the family and talk about all of our wonderful memories of Grandpa. The kids were remarkably well behaved despite missing naps two days in a row and all of us sleeping in one hotel room. They were both too young to understand what was going on, but they were REALLY happy the hotel had a “water cool” – aka swimming pool.

Sunday:

She's getting good at watching sports - snack, drink, belligerent attitude.

We glued down some of the tracks to prevent another Epic Train Disaster of 2012.

Stop screwing around with your phone and READ ME MY STORY, WOMAN.

Monday:

Her favorite game at the playplace is Try On All The Shoes

Evan thought kitty looked cold, so he tucked her in for a nap.

HUGS!

Tuesday:

She must really like Tuesdays

Or...not. This was because I insisted on paying for the grapes before she could eat them.

I think he's Mousekercizing

Wednesday:

It won't be long before she's doing backflips down this thing

Hoarder in the making

This is such a mess it's not even cute anymore.

Thursday:

Evan "helped" me take Brutus to the vet

Library turtle is exciting for exactly 42 seconds

Veggie Taaaales, Veggie Taaaaales, Veggie Taaaaaales, VeggieTales!

Friday:

Hotel curtains are the FUNNEST

My favorite picture of Caroline, maybe ever

What do you MEAN they're out of the sea bass? Unacceptable.

Saturday:

Hotel beds are for jumping

Please, take my picture.

Caroline fully accepted the pack'n'play as a nice place to sleep and suddenly I am looking forward to vacation a whole lot more.

Now we are back home and I have an enormous pile of laundry to slog through although going to Mystic to feed the ducks and visit the whales sounds like a lot more fun, so maybe we’ll just turn our underwear inside out tomorrow. It was an emotional weekend and I could use some sunshine and fun.

Weekend Photo Attack

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Driving home on Sunday, E and I were talking about what we would do if we won the $130 million Powerball, and I said “You know, I think I’d stay here in our house.” Of course, I’d ALSO buy a fabulous beach mansion so I could skip November-March in New England. But April in Connecticut kind of rocks.

Apologies for the ridiculous number of pictures.

Mystic Seaport:

She INSISTED on wearing this hat all day

An extremely true-to-life family photo

E’s hockey game:

This just cracks me up

Playing on the patio:

Practicing her balance beam skills

I have no idea what she's doing. Weirdo.

Evan learned how to skate:

He did so well for his first time!

It’s supposed to be 85 degrees today, so we’re going to a playdate, taking a nice long nap and then playing in the sprinklers until it’s time to make burgers on the grill. That’ll do, Connecticut, that’ll do.

My Week(76) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, April 14th, 2012

My birthday week is ending tonight with a husband-acquired babysitter and a viewing of The Hunger Games in an actual theater, which might seem lame but is pretty much the best thing ever. The weather today was amazing and is supposed to be even MORE amazing tomorrow so it’s easy to avoid looking at the piles of laundry and dishes I’m supposed to be doing by staying outside.

Sunday:

CUDDLES

We're letting him practice with the toy mower now so we can put him to work for real when he's 4

Yoga: Yur doin it rong.

Monday:

Lazy baby slept until 8:15

Practicing our kissy faces

The jets in the tub turn a bubble bath into a BUBBLE BATH

Tuesday:

My birthday present was a baby who refused to wear clothes

I took a birthday nap. Sort of.

Purple roses from my sweetie

Wednesday:

Crafty like a fox

These are all gone now

Couch naps have turned into floor naps

Thursday:

Poor feverish baby slept late

Toy box nap? Weirdos.

Single-parent bedtime means sometimes you carry a naked toddler on your shoulders

Friday:

This is actually her happy face

Chalk & toes

Outside is the BEST side

Saturday:

Hmmm, maybe the peanut shells really aren't for eating

Practicing his slapshot

I enjoyed the sunshine for exactly 6 minutes before I felt my skin starting to fry.

Now I’m going to go re-pink-ify my hair and take a nap so I don’t fall asleep half way through the movie tonight. Happy weekend!
