My Week(41) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Despite only being actually hung over for about 20 minutes on Saturday (Bob Harper’s workout sweat the booze right out of me) I’ve been BlogHer hung over ALL WEEK. Having to care for other people’s needs is exhausting, y’all. So is laundry, cooking, cleaning and keeping up with my other commitments. I need a maid. Or at least a nanny.

Sunday:

Obligatory over the wing shot from my plane ride

Ground from the plane

Yeah, sorry, all I did was fly. Unless you want to see a picture of the giant cheeseburger I scarfed down.

Monday:

Real life can't stop me from rocking the "Internets! Hell yea!" tattoo

Little Evan's newest trick is lining stuff up

I missed this face like WHOA

Tuesday:

GET YOUR FILTHY FALL CANDY OFF MY GROCERY STORE SHELVES. (Also, mmmm...mallow pumpkins)

A 5 minute grocery store trip with two kids is actually a 45 minute grocery store trip

Heirloom tomatoes from the CSA. Tomorrow they're going into pasta with goat cheese and herb butter. And then into my MOUTH.

My dad's job brought him to Connecticut so Little Evan got a suprise bedtime story with Bampa

Wednesday:

I came home with a suitcase full of stuffed animals for Little Evan - and my husband makes them all obsolete with one stupid angry bird.

My children are confused

Yes, please climb on my face.

Thursday:

First time I made it to Stroller Strides all week...and instead of doing sit ups I lay on the ground taking pictures. Am Lazy.

Don't even THINK about making me share this plum.

In bed, lights out, before 10. It felt FANTASTIC.

 Friday:

New favorite game: Caroline rides the bouncy seat like a surfboard while Little Evan bounces it. They made it up/play it all on their own. These children will be the death of me.

Nursing in public. I am SCANDALOUS.

True fact: of all the free stuff I got at BlogHer, one of my favorites was the rosemary Wasa flatbreads. I'm a weirdo. So I bought more.

Things she ate for dinner and are on her face: grapes, corn tortillas, fruit leather, bbq chicken pizza, fig newton. ALL OF THOSE.

Saturday:

Party dresses: they're not JUST for parties!

And then mama bought THIS MUCH stuff at Target!

Cheating on Caroline with my friend Amanda's 7 week old baby. SO TINY.

And now I am exhausted so I’m going to try to sneak in a nap.

My Week(29) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Sunday:

Pouring rain in Columbus, where luckily my sister-in-law had an alternate indoor location for her garden wedding

Self portrait of my fancy headband while I let one tired baby sleep in my lap

A little ring sling action at the reception. Caroline says "IT'S 9 PM WHY AM I NOT IN BED?"

Monday:

I saw 10 hours of this while we drove home. The kids were incredibly well behaved - probably because they were so tired from 4 days with no naps.

Little Evan slept like this for most of the trip - and STILL went to bed at the regular time.

Tuesday:

Excited to wake up in his own bed

Caroline gets some love from a Stroller Strides friend who missed her while we were gone.

This was for sale at the kennel where we board Brutus. If you dress your dog like this we cannot be friends.

Wednesday:

Lazy, lie around the house day for everyone but me...

...because I am INSANE and decided to redecoraty my pantry. That's right, my PANTRY. A closet NO ONE SEES.

Meanwhile, our most used room looked like THIS.

Thursday:

I had to take Little Evan back to the pediatrician for another lead test because his first sample was "insufficient". He was NOT happy about getting poked again. (This picture is pre-poking)

Some milk and his blankie made him feel much better.

After bedtime I got out my camera manual and finally started learning how to use the damn thing

Friday:

Someone has a hard time staying in his seat at Stroller Strides - but SCREAMS if I buckle him in.

Nursing baby cuddles.

Dollar Store generics crack me up

Saturday:

It FINALLY stopped raining so I went to check on my plants. Looks like I'll get blueberries this year!

Cereal for breakfast, as usual, in his new dinosaur shirt.

We went to Lowe's to look at pavers, since we need to get them ordered THIS WEEKEND. As excited as I am for a patio, this is not going to be easy or cheap and I'm worried.

Yeah, so, the patio. I know I keep talking about how we’re doing it “soon” but day 1 of the project starts a week from today. For some reason my brain simply CANNOT HANDLE the idea of square feet and cubic feet and tons and lengths and heights and all the other stuff we need to figure out. I’m sitting here right now with a notebook and a calculator, sweating profusely and swearing at the numbers. The good news is my folks are coming up to help (spoken: Mom & I shop for patio furniture while Dad & E do all the math and heavy lifting). If we blow our budget as much as I THINK we’re going to we might just be sitting on the bricks for the next year.

My Week(27) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, May 7th, 2011

Sunday:

We let Little Evan play with our shock-proof video camera at the farm. Watching the video he took would make a fish seasick.

I did some garden clean-up and remembered how much I LOVE my yard.

Caroline is skeptical I will ever finish this sweater. She's right.

Monday:

Playground time after Stroller Strides

I started to work through the giant pile of stuff to do on my counter. It's hard when I keep stopping to blog.

We went to E's (very very cold) hockey practice

And I ALMOST convinced Caroline the Moby is awesome

Tuesday:

Right after this, she threw up on my clean laundry, just to show me who's boss.

Stroller Strides on the Mohegan Indian Reservation. It's a really beautiful park.

Enjoying cuddles while he's willing to give them

Wednesday:

Since giving up Diet Coke I have been SO GRATEFUL for my Keurig

Hello! I see a baby!

Someone is still a little bitter she isn't the baby anymore.

I was really proud of my super colorful, fruit and veggie filled cart.

Thursday:

She thought this outfit was so ridiculous, she barfed on it after 5 minutes.

So I put her back in pajamas. But she couldn't escape the headbands!!

Baby geese at Stroller Strides!

I boiled oranges. It was for a cake. Pictures & link coming later but I can tell you it tasted about how you'd expect.

Friday:

Stroller Strides at the park closest to my house! SO happy to be back there.

I put Caroline in the big kid stroller seat for the first time. She seemed to like it enough to fall asleep (thanks to the fountain noise).

Whipping cream by hand: least fun thing ever. My hand-crank beater is broken and I don't even know if anyone still sells those.

Saturday:

OMG ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO PUT THIS THING ON MY HEAD?

Kisses as an early Mother's Day present

I’m “celebrating” mother’s day today because E has a hockey game tomorrow he doesn’t want to miss. Celebrating is in quotes because so far absolutely nothing about today has been any different than the rest of the week, except that I had an extra cup of coffee. But this afternoon I’m going to do some child free errands (and maybe a little fun shopping too) and plant my front step flower pots, so the day is looking up. This is our lazy non-crazy weekend of May so tomorrow I’m going to enjoy some couch sitting and sweet baby cuddles while I can. I hope your week was as nice as ours and Happy Mother’s Day Weekend to all the mamas!

My Week(26) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Sunday:

We enjoyed the nice weather (p.s. I do not live here)

And walked down the block to Easter services

Caroline enjoyed her Easter dress

And I enjoyed at least 7 of these scones

Monday:

Well, that's a new way to go down the slide

First swing! She looks underwhelmed.

Rushed the stupid dog to the vet because he ran in the street & got hit by a car. He's so totally fine the vet thought I was imagining things.

Tuesday:

Want to make a 2 year old go somewhere? Tell him there are kitties. KITTY! KIIIIIIIITTYYYYYYY!!!

Someone is excited about the spring weather.

60% off baby! I should have bought the whole box.

Wednesday:

Well, if you're that tired try sleeping later than 5:30. OKAY BABY?

Big boy reading in his big boy bed when I came to get him in the morning

The giant cart came in handy when we found the half price bunny. I put it (and the pink version) in a box for next Easter. AM GENIUS.

It's about time he earned his keep around here. I pay him in cereal.

WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT SLEEPING IN?!?

Thursday:

Well, yes, that's sleeping. Technically.

OK, more sleeping. Except I took this at Stroller Strides so I was NOT sleeping.

Naked baby time while Mama stuffed diapers for the switch to cloth

Friday:

Yes, I watched the royal wedding but only because THE BABY wanted to get up. It's not like I set my alarm or something.

OK, so I set my alarm. But how could I miss THIS?!

New best toddler distraction ever: buckets & water.

Maybe I shouldn't whine so much about the sleeping.

Saturday:

CEREAL. MOOOOOORE!!! MORE CEREAAAAAAAL!!!!

I had a super healthy breakfast omlet so I wouldn't feel bad about the fried seafood at lunch. It worked.

Mystic Seaport. In the words of the toddler: BOAT BOAT BOAT BOAT BOAT!

Days like this I am so happy we live in New England.

And now it’s Saturday afternoon and we’re home with 2 napping babies and plans to visit the hardware store (and hopefully I can talk E into some Chili’s for dinner). If we get REALLY fancy we might go dig up some rocks in the back yard. MY LIFE IS SO GLAMOROUS. And you know what? I totally think it’s awesome.

My Week(24) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

I thought I was going to be missing a few days worth of photos because I’ve been using my phone as a white noise machine for Caroline (it’s like MAGIC – she LOVES the white noise) but all it did was cut my photos down from 400 to 200. I’m an iPhoto phiend.

Sunday:

To celebrate my birthday, I went thrifting. I did not buy these.

I also did not buy these. Who donates suede fringed chaps to Goodwill?

Monday:

Sometimes I leave my baby on the floor while I get ready for Stroller Strides

We hung out at the yarn store

Adorable hand-embroidered onesies from @lifeversiontwo

Tuesday:

And sometimes I leave my baby in the laundry basket while I get ready for Stroller Strides.

All the babies in a row at Stroller Strides

We tried to have a nice picnic lunch. Until Little Evan stomped all over the sandwiches.

Wednesday:

Playing with mommy's mascara...

...is a poor choice.

It was "time to move some of the toys up to the playroom because OMG LOOK AT THIS MESS" day

Some people don't appreciate a good vintage sweater

Thursday:

Stompin' in the puddles

Words I never thought I'd have to say "Stop trying to run your sister over with the dumptruck!"

"Crap, I forgot how to roll from front to back so I'm about to get really pissed that I'm stuck!"

Friday:

So, should I be WORRIED my baby powder expired seven years ago?

Pretty blue buttons on a knitted gift

Playing at the most fun playground in our area

Sailing the pirate ship!

This is the super-cool old mental hospital in our town. They're FINALLY turning it into some sort of shopping center/housing development - but I'm afraid they're going to tear all the old buildings down.

Helping mama with her knitting

Saturday:

NOT helping mama with her knitting

"Hey, what are we going to do with all these burnt potato chips?" "I know! Let's call them 'gourmet dark' and sell them to suckers like Suzanne!"

I added some daffodils to the flowers from last weekend's party and put them in front of my laptop so this is what I see when I'm working :)

And even with the mid-day grocery shopping (SO CROWDED) I still had time to hit up TJMaxx for some dress shopping. I scored big time for Caroline (THREE gorgeous dresses originally more than $50 a piece for $10 each) and even found an awesome dress for me to wear to the wedding we’re attending in May. It’s Calvin Klein (What are you wearing? A dress! Says who?) and fits me great now BUT will also fit if I manage to lose any weight before the wedding. I even got all fashionable and bought a belt to replace the one it came with. As far as I’m concerned that’s a Major Fashion Risk. I am very excited to wear it. I think I even have a pair of fantastic heels I haven’t worn in years that would match.

Wow, how boring was all that? Hey, welcome to life with 2 kids. TJMaxx is exciting.
