My Week(243) in iPhone Photos

Caroline had morning day camp at Mystic Seaport last week, so we were out of the house Doing Stuff almost every day. Doing stuff is really fun, but I might not be up for stuff every day. Maybe every other day. This coming week Evan has full day Seaport Camp, so we’ll do even more stuff. I am both excited and already tired.

I can’t believe it’s already the last week of June. I keep having to triple check the calendar to make sure I’m not on the wrong month. I have less than 4 weeks before Lincoln turns one and before his birthday party. I ordered a ton of birthday stuff but have no actual decorating plans beyond “hang up some sparkly stuff” and “maybe cake?” Luckily we have a bunch of family coming, so I will have people to help me cut up one zillion foods into star shapes.

It is freezing cold today but the forecast for the rest of the week looks perfect for lots of #lakelife fun. So far it’s been a pretty good summer.

Happy weekend!

E was supposed to be at sea but he is not, so we had a nice Father’s Day at the zoo followed by pulled pork and ice cream cake. The kids announced THEY had the best Father’s Day, so I think it was successful. I really like the kind of family fun day where no one has a giant meltdown and I get to eat ice cream cake.

Off topic: I got a Fitbit this week, and my desire to get to 10,000 steps a day has been GREAT motivation for me to move. I also really love that it’s giving me extra points in my Weight Watchers app, because ice cream cake.

My Week(241) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

I took about half as many photos this week as I usually do. I started Weight Watchers so I’m on my phone tracking what I’m eating (or trying to figure out if I can afford to eat another cookie) a LOT and it keeps dying. It’s hard to take photos with a dead phone.

THIS WEEK IS THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL. It’s not even real days, just half days. We also have every possible kind of appointment. Luckily swim and soccer are over, so we just have to get through dance and the recital and then we are ALL FREE. I cannot wait to just NOT DO STUFF. I could sleep past 7 am! Linc can nap whenever he wants! I DON’T HAVE TO MAKE PACKED LUNCH.

I have big plans to wear everyone out with tons of lake visits and hikes, so we won’t actually be doing NOTHING. But I will definitely enjoy letting the kids eat popcorn for lunch on the regular.

Holiday weekend = I don’t even know what day it is anymore. E had Friday off but is at work today, but was home for Saturday and Sunday so we were out of the house the WHOLE time. This is the first time I have even touched my laptop. I sense that might happen a lot this summer, since our default activity is “swimming at the lake” and that means way less screen time. Not a bad thing.

They are both fans of dads wearing babies

I can’t believe I have to pack THREE more weeks of lunches for Evan. I am so, so ready to have the kids home for the summer. I realize in a month and a half I’ll be screaming “OMG WHEN DO THEY GO BACK TO SCHOOOOL??” but right now the beautiful weather + wanting to sleep in + our new lake beach club membership = ready for summer. I just need the water to get a TINY bit warmer so Linc and I can swim/float around. Right now he’s mostly eating sand, which he enjoys on the way in but does not enjoy on the way out.

I’m already 2 days late for Linc’s 10 monthday update post, but I swear I’ll do it this week. I also have two posts with actual words almost done, so this might be a record week for me – I haven’t blogged that much in years. CAN YOU HANDLE IT, INTERNETS? Of course you can. It’s not that interesting.

Happy Mother’s Day, internet! I planted my traditional flower pots and vegetables. The flowers will traditionally look beautiful on the front steps and the vegetables will traditionally die before I ever see a single tomato or eggplant. But I wouldn’t want to stop planting them. It’s tradition.

Saturday:

saturday1

You can’t tell, but he’s crying. Because some of his Cheerios fell on the floor. Because he threw them there.

saturday2

Somehow, she did not fall in.

saturday3

That is not the face of a healthy child. Poor baby had fifths disease (we think) but once you get the rash you’re not contagious anymore.

I really wanted to get a picture of myself with the kids for Mother’s Day, but that didn’t happen. There were too many meltdowns, too many dirty faces, too many things to do, too many kids to wrangle. But while we were making s’mores for dinner both Evan and Caroline said THEY were having the best day ever, so at least the kids enjoyed their day. If that’s not basically what motherhood breaks down to then I don’t know what it.
