My Week(19) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Sunday:

I found these while grocery shopping. E & I used to eat at the actual Sticky Fingers ALL the time in Charleston, including our first real date.

Now that Caroline's a litle bigger I pulled out the cloth diapers. They're working well.

Monday:

Stroller Strides! Also, bebeh with ears on her hood!

Seriously, if we do switch back to cloth it will be entirely for the cuteness factor.

Apparently Monday was Caroline day. Adorable hat from Uff Da - I have a mommy sized one!

Tuesday:

Waiting for me to tell him it's time to go to Stroller Strides.

The bubble machine is my secret weapon against tantrums. Even if it means bubbles in the kitchen.

I went to Staples for envelopes and Post-its. It wasn't nearly as exciting as this picture makes it look.

Wednesday:

Mommy multi-tasking: bouncing two kids at once. Great leg workout too!

Invitations: addressed & mailed!

Little Evan and I played a LOT of games with Chuck the Truck and his friends

WHY IS THIS GIRAFFE TOUCHING ME?????

Thursday:

Mural on the wall of our post office. That's some awesome art right there.

That cool brick building used to be a fancy hotel. Now it's rent-controled apartments and a restaurant that keeps changing names.

Oven mitts are his favorite toy. This week.

Friday:

Taken 20 seconds after I finished seaming up the vest. I like to wear what I make as soon as possible.

Yarn & pattern to make a husband-sized sweater. I'm a little scared.

We ran some errands, including a quick trip to Best Buy to see if they had iPads. They did not.

Saturday:

SOMEBODY got up at 5 am. At least she was adorable in her onesie from @lifeversiontwo

I dyed my hair for the first time in ages. It's only a little blonder. I'm not sure I love it.

IKEA! Toddler room makeover before & after pics coming soon.

My Week(18) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

Sunday:

Giant Toddler towers over the tiny dog

Like two peas in a pod. Or two popcorn kernels in a, uh, Popsecret bag.

Monday:

His hockey stick is now a horse, and he gallops around going "NEY NEY NEY!!"

Playdoh playtime! I get the strongest urge to eat it. But I don't. Usually.

Putting his feet up while he gets a little work done on the laptop.

Tuesday:

Eating yogurt with the antique silver. He insists on the best.

Poor Caroline's bald spot is getting out of control. Good thing her face is so cute.

He's like some sort of crazy toddler superhero with those infant sunglasses strapped to his face.

Wednesday:

He reads "That's not my dinosaur!" as "No...no...no...ESSSSS!!"

Brutus enjoyed a break from the rainy weather

BEBEH GIRL SHOES. I want to buy them all. And, uh, maybe that white pair in my size?

Thursday:

Shhh, don't tell her her polka dot camouflage isn't working!

Apparently we needed to play with ALL the toys that morning.

Little Evan recently started loving on the bear I knit for him. And by "loving on" I mean "carrying around to hit people with and/or throw in air while laughing maniacally."

Friday:

We finally - FINALLY - left the house and made it to knit-a-long at Mothers of Purl.

We all watched Toy Story 3, some of us from the couch, some from our desks

Saturday:

Whoa, so many colors. It's like a baby acid trip.

We didn’t actually do much at all this week (because of sickness)(and a little laziness) but I’d say we still had more good days than bad ones. Although we had some really really bad MOMENTS – like when the toddler fell off the couch onto the sleeping infant in her bouncy seat (everyone was ok) or when the toddler hit the infant in the head with a hockey stick, got a time out, was released from time out, hit her in the head AGAIN and then asked joyfully, “TIME OUT?! TIME OUT!?” (everyone was ok again…except for my patience).

Today we went on a hunt for a twin-sized bed to start the transition from nursery to little boy room but didn’t end up buying anything. I don’t know who designs kid’s room furniture but dude, most of that stuff is hideous. Or HUGE. Or is so style-specific it only goes with other pieces from that collection…and I already have a perfectly good dresser and bookcases thankyouverymuch. Don’t furniture retailers realize that by the time a kid is 2 or 3 their parents have already gotten WAAAAY past the “everything in this nursery must match! nothing but the best for my snuggy-wuggums!!” stage? Nursery furniture is where your market is folks. Just make me a nice neutral not-too-high wooden twin bed. Sorry, furniture sales people make me ranty. I think we’re going to end up at Ikea.

If running in circles ever becomes an Olympic sport, he’s golden!

I don’t love bloggers who do tons of videos because I am often scanning blogs on my phone in the middle of the night while nursing a baby, and although reading is silent, videos are not. For some reason, YouTube plays sound even when the phone is on silent so I can’t even watch your kid be adorable with the sound off unless I manage to mute the video on the YouTube frame itself before it blares through the room.

But I’m making today a video day, because in the clip below you will experience:
1. Amazing toddler energy
2. A very confused dog
3. E encouraging yelling
4. Cute plaid pants
5. Shoddy housekeeping
6. Terrible parents who laugh when their kid falls down
7. My incredible iPhone video skills that may give you motion sickness

How can you turn that down? The really good stuff starts right around the 1 minute mark.

My Week(17) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Our week started super well and ended very, very badly. I was sick (probably kidney related) on Friday and horribly terribly sick on Saturday, the kind of sick where you cannot function beyond breathing and even that seems like maybe too much work. It doesn’t help that ALL of us are snotty and coughing too – but at least kidney infections aren’t contagious so I can be as sick as a dog and not worry about passing it to the baby.

Sunday:

Poke poke poke Hey Daddy do you like this? Poke poke poke

Retribution!!!

See that? That's as polished as my sink gets. I have to admit it feels good to come down to a clean sink in the morning.

Monday:

Stroller Strides was cancelled for a snow day so we stayed home and baked The Pioneer Woman's Angel Sugar cookies. DELICIOUS.

E had the day off too, so I had the chance to get some knitting done. My, Monday sure was domestic.

Tuesday:

Playtime after Stroller Strides. All the running in circles leads to a GREAT nap.

9 weeks old and she's already bored with me. Blah!

Little Evan thought maybe she wanted to call someone and report me for being so lame.

Wednesday:

Hey girl, I'll share my dope ride with you!

"Cat, not dog" is a concept lost on Little Evan. I put the poor kitty back in the basement for her own good.

I spent the evening putting together the favors for Little Evan's 2nd birthday. I figure if I do one thing a week for the next month I can throw a pretty good party even with a lot less free time than last year.

Thursday:

Someone thought maybe I should do some laundry.

It wasn't freezing cold so we spent a few minutes playing is the dirty dirty yard. Also, I think I know why the ends of his sippy cups keep falling off.

I ate way way way too many of these.

Friday:

Evan was feeling very loving today towards his sister...

...and towards his Brutus. (Taken with Instagram)

Little Evan eating his Trix. For lunch. At 3 pm. I felt too lousy to care.

E had to work late (of course) so we made it through the evening with lots of reading.

Saturday:

Yeah, wear whatever you want kid.

What, don't you use your baby carrier to tote around your laptop? If you look in the background you can see the house slowly deteriorating thanks to my inability to stand up.

Thank God sleepy baby was sleepy. We just curled up on the couch most of the day and nursed.

I’m feeling a little better today, well enough to look at my computer screen at least, and I’m loading up on the Motrin and fluids so hopefully by the time I’m back to solo-parenting tomorrow I can function. I think planning on Stroller Strides might be a little optimistic – but hey, a 104 degree fever combined with a constantly nursing baby means I’ve probably lost 5 pounds since Friday anyways. Uh, yay?
