My Week(87) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

Please excuse a gratuitous number of photos this week. It was what one might call “eventful”.

Sunday:

She has already grown accustomed to a life of luxury

Cleopatra directing her slave barge around the pool

TWO DISHWASHERS

Caroline ate that ENTIRE block of cheese

Monday:

It feels sort of wrong to watch Fresh Beat Band in the room filled with authentic old movie posters

Impossibly green lawn

Burying herself in the sand

Bubbles bubbles bubbles my bubbles

Tuesday:

CFA on the way out of town, obviously

Step 1: Aim phone out window without looking Step 2: press button 42 times Step 3: get one crooked picture of South of the Border because your trip wouldn’t be complete without it.

I told them if they won the lottery we could go back to the beach house

Wednesday:

Pushy sheep

Friendly bird

IN YO FACE Antelope

Adorable almost-twins (Judah is 3 days older than Caroline!)

Thursday:

Kisses for MorMor

Musical genius (player piano)

My favorite player piano roll, since I was a small child who would dance around a pole in my grandmother’s basement. Yeah.

This is what happens when you visit childless friends – a chest in front of the basement door hole and Jenga as building blocks.

Friday:

REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE BOAT

IT’S 105 DEGREES OUT WHY THE HELL ARE WE NOT INSIDE???

PotBelly Baby

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

She’s a Pinkberry fan.

Saturday:

Storm damage in my parent’s neighborhood. (Fun fact for people this might mean something to: this is Jamie’s old house)

Yikes. No one was hurt.

Good luck climbing over this branch Mom.

Inside: cold and dark. Outside: SURFACE OF THE SUN.

Also we ate a bunch of stuff and went fishing and rode on a carousel and went to the pool and went to ANOTHER pool with a friend I hadn’t seen in 12 years and a bunch more stuff I didn’t take pictures of because I was having too much fun and/or trying to keep the kids from accidentally killing themselves and/or me. But tomorrow we are finally headed home to Connecticut and E and Brutus and our normal life…at least until Wednesday when we head up to Massachusetts for the 4th and more beach and more pool. But THEN I’m hoping life will go back to normal and by normal I mean GOOD LORD THESE CHILDREN NEED NAPS.

Unacceptable!

Monday, June 25th, 2012

The beach house has a burned out light bulb, no air conditioning in the elevator, a hot tub that is too hot, and there are too many desserts I have to eat before I leave. So obviously by “unacceptable” I mean WAY MORE THAN ACCEPTABLE. It is still the most amazing house I’ve ever stayed in (or probably WILL ever stay in) in my life.

We’re having an amazing time at the beach, full of swimming and cake and she crab soup (if you don’t know what that is I don’t think we can be friends anymore) and amazing long-time friends who love me despite my overly tired children. Tomorrow I head back to Virginia for a vacation-recovery period at my folk’s house. I’m sure MorMor and Bumpa will be happy to hold Caroline and get Evan cups of milk while I lie on the floor in a coma caused by too much sun and cream-based foods. Although we also have plans to go fishing and swimming and to see some wild animals at the Reston Zoo and I’m hoping to meet up with some of my interwebs friends who live in Northern Virginia (so hey, if you live in Virginia, let’s get together!)

Being here without E has been a little bit of a challenge though. So far Caroline has smashed her face into the ground, tried to drown herself in a tide pool, fallen off the boardwalk into a prickle bush and narrowly avoided running into an alligator (although all of those – especially the last one – are obviously my fault.) She’s a tiny force of nature who cannot be stopped, even by colliding with hard surfaces. And let’s not even talk about the bug bites on Evan’s legs. He looks like a leper, he’s SO chewed up. So my parenting gets about a 3, although the fun level is still about a 9 and as of 4:46 pm on Monday everyone is still alive. Look! I have proof!

HELP HELP MY MOTHER IS NEGLECTFUL!

OK, that wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. Here, how about these?

See? Still alive! And happy! Just don’t look to closely at Evan’s legs in that 3rd picture. And here’s one more to make your head explode:

tutu baseball cap

I’ll be back with how to travel with two toddlers on your own travel tips soon! Oh wait, no. Because my only travel tip is ear plugs. SERIOUSLY.

My Week(86) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

I apologize for my pictures this week – if you are currently stuck in an office you are going to HATE me.

Sunday:

On my way Mommy!

What, don’t you grow trees in your gutters?

Buy these.

Monday:

5 am means iPhone in bed because Mommy is NOT getting up

I had to wake her up at 9 am. She was not amused.

More straw cup stealing

Tuesday:

Getting a little blogging done while we wait for the car to be fixed

Very pleased with her stool climbing skills

Couch naps FTW

Wednesday:

Billion degrees at the rest stop

Car full o’babies

Swing break at MorMor and Bumpas house

Thursday:

Beach House!

Candy counter at the Piggly Wiggly. I miss the South.

Sitting on the floor of the Piggly Wiggly. I miss the South.

Friday:

Even in the beach house, Jake is the favorite.

Farmer’s Market acquisitions: Tomatoes, Peaches, Blackberries

Look Mommy! A gorgeous beach all for me!

Saturday:

Hello Charleston!

DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT those motorcycles

Wild Wings, you make my heart sing.

We’re at the beach for a few more days with no plans besides an adorable kid photo shoot and drinking/eating ALL THE THINGS. Right now on the counter is homemade chocolate cake with chocolate icing, homemade carrot cake with cream cheese coconut icing, a sour cherry pie and maple bourbon bacon ice cream. And that’s just dessert. Then we’ll go visit my parents and do grandparent-type stuff and then home for some MORE family visiting and eating. Obviously my life is really hard.

My Week(46) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Man, is there anything less fun than coming back to your normal, mid-sized, dog hair covered house after a luxury vacation? I have GOT to win the lottery. Or at least start making enough money so I can afford someone to come in and clean up this dog hair once a week. Sheesh.

Sunday:

Tiny bebehs, giant bathtub

Still not enough cheese.

No one can resist Caroline's cuddles

Monday:

Screw you beach house. Screw you and your perfect sunrise.

Dog-hair free. And so so shiny.

At least it was a nice day for driving.

Tuesday:

Crazy ass giant mouse thing at the Natural History Museum

I took approximately 500 pictures of butterflies, so if they all disappear off the face of the earth tomorrow I'M GOOD.

The only thing left on the Missoni accessory rack. I didn't buy it.

Wednesday:

Luggage in my kitchen. Guess how much has been put away as of this morning. (Hint: NONE)

Kisses.

A photo of me editing photos. Aren't you EXCITED?

Thursday:

Blue cheese, bacon, tomato, carmelized onions on sourdough from the fancy grilled cheese restaurant in Mystic.

Toddler table. The cute is out of CONTROL.

Adorable thrifted vintage baby clothes (and handmade headbands) from an AMAZING internet friend. Thank you @heathermbyrd!!

Friday:

First shoes!

Meal planning. It took me three days and I still haven't actually MADE any of them.

New (amazing) lens. I can now take pictures of each of Caroline's eyelashes.

Saturday:

8 am, where else would I be?

Swoopy hair, sleepy face

More wine, less whine.

I plan to spend Sunday napping as much as possible – I feel like I’ve been beaten (thanks to Stroller Strides) and sleep deprived (thanks to a teething baby) and starved (thanks to eating like a fat kid on vacay followed by a return to my diet) – while I thoroughly neglect my children. Luckily they’re pretty self sufficient if you throw a few cheese sticks at them and turn on Nick Jr. I am the best mother EVER.

My Week(45) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Besides the crazy amount of driving (WHY can’t Connecticut and Virginia and South Carolina be CLOSER TOGETHER???) this was a great week and continues to be pretty much the very best weekend ever. E.V.E.R.

Sunday:

Ball holder

Poor baby had a rash so we had naked time...and then we had clean the carpet time.

Solo car trip to...it doesn't even matter. Just being ALONE IN THE CAR is such a treat.

Monday:

Smug mug

Family pizza - mine is the one without the GIANT AMOUT OF MEAT

Daddy jungle gym, mommy relaxing. As it should be.

Tuesday:

Grapes and cheese, the official breakfast of baby champions

It was raining at the CSA pickup, but the toddlers STILL played in a bucket of water

I need everyone reading this to tell E that when Kate Spade is 60% off you HAVE to buy it. It's practically in the Constitution.

Wednesday:

Part 1 of the 2 day roadtrip

Sir Toppam Hat And The Train Tracks Of DOOM

OH THE HUMANITY!!!

Thursday:

More driving. Annoyed face.

GET IN MY FACE NOW.

Kiawah Island

Friday:

View from the house where we're staying

Beach house pool. Because, OBVIOUSLY.

Bailey's & Milk and Champagne. Because, WHY NOT?

Saturday:

Nick Jr is still cooler than a fancy beach house

Straight up paparazzi lens we found in a drawer. It's AWESOME.

Good times were had by all.

And now it’s bedtime for toddlers and babies, which means it’s wine-o-clock for mommies and daddies (and the childless friends who have been SO AMAZING and helpful and patient with my babies)
