My Week(111) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, December 16th, 2012

Thank you for your texts, phone calls and tweets friends. We’re in the other half of the state from the shooting so we are all OK. A friend on Facebook reposted a status update from a relative who lives in Newtown, Connecticut today, thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers but asking that we stop tuning in to the 24/7 news coverage so the media will leave them alone. I couldn’t agree more. I have no words for what happened and my children are too young (thank God) to be aware of what’s happened, so I’m trying to prevent it from affecting them by tuning out. Caroline’s birthday party was on Saturday and I am so, so thankful her 2-year-old world is untouched.

Sunday:

sunday1

Party prep

sunday2

Awesome parenting 101: don’t be afraid to use your sleeping daughter as a mouse pad.

Thursday:

thursday1

Solo grocery shopping with a peppermint mocha = dream come true.

thursday3

We’ve never been in this toy store before. We will DEFINITELY be going back.

thursday2

I kind of want a monkey riding a bicycle for my front yard.

Friday:

friday1

Up before the sun, but at least he has a cat to keep him warm.

friday2

Bumpa made a joke about putting the children to work. The children insisted on following through. Note the jammies under her coat and boots. Note to Bumpa: Toddlers don’t understand sarcasm.

friday3

The last photo I took on Friday was at preschool drop off. The rest of the day I checked out of my phone.

Saturday:

saturday2

Checking out the candy selection on the Frost Your Own Tree table

saturday1

Someone please come over and help me eat leftovers.

saturday3

A bathtub tea party requires your best necklace

For the rest of the day we’re going to eat leftover cookies and cuddle on the couch and watch Disney and play anything the kids want to without complaining. Actually, that’s pretty much the plan for every day for the rest of the year. We’re boring, but at least we are together.

My Week(110) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, December 8th, 2012

I was transferring photos off my phone for this week’s round up and I couldn’t believe it was THIS WEEK that Caroline broke her chin. It feels like a million years ago. Well, except for the part where she had the stitches out on Friday, because the screaming is still echoing in my ears.

Sunday:

Goldfish crackers – Pretty much the same as lidocaine when it comes to relieving chin pain in toddlers

Waitress, this coffee is TERRIBLE.

Get in my face.

Monday:

Wall painters

This pizza place had a bin of toys for the kids. And also really good pizza.

No filter

Tuesday:

Does my fancy hair distract you from my exhausted, dirty face?

Dashing through the family room

Magical winter scene, complete with giant jingle bells and pine cones? Sure!

Wednesday:

No words.

Hanging twinsies

Evan is making that face because Caroline is SCREAMING her head off. The grocery store is torture.

Thursday:

Weirdos.

My favorite and my best cookies

Glow-y

Friday:

Pantsless emergency!!

See my beluga, Mom? DO YOU SEE IT???

Evan acted as photographer while Caroline had her stitches out. There was video too, but I deleted it because OMG WHO WANTS TO RELIVE THAT?!

 Saturday:

Too early for life.

I mean, yeah, it’s gorgeous. But who’s kid could wear that without RUINING it?!

Last of the party prep. NEXT WEEK!!

I have three weeks worth of stuff and three days to do it before my parents get here so the next week is going to be crazy-full. And with E on shift work (AGAIN) I’m doing it all while solo-parenting. I really hope the kids are ready for Elf on repeat. I love smiling, smiling’s my favorite.

My Week(109) in iPhone Photos

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012

I have pretty much never been gladder a week was over. We are never getting back together, Week 109. Like, ever.

Sunday:

Football!!!! Oh wait…zzzzzzzz.

First non-screaming bath time in a week. Good thing I stopped using acid to wash her instead of water (Note: no acid was actually used)

I mostly take photos so I can play with Photoshop.

Monday:

Thanksgiving leftovers on my poor swollen face parts.

Couch potatoes

One day, this will be dining room curtains

Tuesday:

Evan made that thing at preschool and apparently it’s Caroline’s new BFF

Snooooooooow!

Catching snowflakes on her tongue. From inside the house. YOU argue with her.

Wednesday:

Insisting that it’s time to build a snowman

Good dog

Help, I’m being buried in crap you insist on buying at Target even though you know perfectly well you don’t need it!

 Thursday:

Little red goldfish hood

The house is a sparkly disaster

I don’t CARE if you like it, just wash your hair.

Friday:

Fake candles and Ikea holders = HOURS of fun

Practicing for her job as one of Santa’s Elves

Oh no, where is Caroline?! I can’t find her!!

Saturday:

Horsies!

Spinning!!

Santa!!! I know him!!

So yeah, that doesn’t actually look so bad but I assure you the 12 hours after that Santa photo were pretty miserable. A migraine, hacking coughs, throw up, stitches, another fainting spell and a four hour drive home split up among 3 people…so…I’m pretty tired. My plan is to get 10 hours of sleep tonight and jump back in to real life with both feet tomorrow. Carefully though, so no one else ends up in the ER.

My Week(108) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, November 24th, 2012

Thanksgiving! Christmas stuff! Both of my kids have given up napping! SEND HELP.

Sunday:

Operation Find The Dining Room Table commences

Armed and dangerous

I asked her to play me a song. She plotted my death.

Monday:

I think we’ve reached aquarium saturation for this month.

Beluga watching

Caroline watching Caroline

Tuesday:

I did all my shopping in 25 minutes (it’s SO much easier when you’re kid-free)

Oh no, he’s being sucked out into space! What a horrible death!!!

Tandem Disney watching

Wednesday:

WAY too much energy for 6:30 am

Finally finishing one of the 13 things I’m in the middle of knitting

Let the baking begin!

Thursday:

She’s practicing for her own parade debut

So thankful

Cider + rum = YUM

Friday:

Off to get our tree!

Admire the tree, ignore the weirdos blowing into a plastic ornament

The opposite of Black Friday morning shopping – 6 pm at an almost empty Target

Saturday:

They came downstairs and yelled “IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!!” Actual Christmas is going to blow their minds.

Local parades are weird.

God bless washable paint

This week is going to be both super long and super short. I’m taking holiday photos for a couple of friends (I absolutely love doing it) and we’re hoping to squeeze in our Christmas trip to Sesame Place but most of my time and energy is going in to Caroline’s birthday party prep. I love party prep. This one is going to be extra awesome, if I do say so myself. Fairies and sparkles and animals oh my.

My Week(107) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, November 17th, 2012

This morning Caroline was doing push ups – incline push ups, with her feet on the couch and her hands on the floor – and I realized I had been sitting down for like 4 hours straight. So I had a cup of coffee, pounded this out and then went to do something productive. Nothing like an exercising 1 year old to make you feel like a lazy ass.

Sunday:

The kids built steps to reach the clementines. Evil geniuses.

“Mommy, why don’t we have ponies???” “Because your father isn’t Mitt Romney, honey.”

Painting the dining room seemed like such a good idea at the time.

Monday:

Sorry, can’t get up, it would disturb the cat.

We went to terrorize, uh, visit my friend Megan’s yarn store.

I love you, iPhone panoramic thingy.

Tuesday:

When you clean out the toy box, you discover toys you forgot about and it’s like getting NEW TOYS (p.s. My aunt made me that dress when I was a baby)

I got the box closes and we haven’t opened it since. TRUE STORY.

Pretty much how I feel every night by 8 pm.

Wednesday:

Caroline chose to sit on the bench with her blankie instead of doing gymnastics for the first half of class. Then she remembered OH YEAH I LOVE GYMNASTICS.

SUPER GOOD BRAVE BOY at the dentist

Clean teeth make you very tired.

Thursday:

Hmmm…do I look 8 years old today? Yes, I think I do.

What do you mean I can’t do pull ups on the stroller???? I hate you you’re ruining my life!

Cat nap (sorry Instagram friends, I just love this one)

Friday:

Trying to climb into the house

The only time we saw Daddy all week…and he’s leaving for work.

My Friday nights are very exciting.

Saturday:

Insisted on getting up at 6:30 am, only to climb into her brother’s bed and insist it was time to go to sleep. That face says “I DARE YOU TO DISAGREE”

3rd batch of scones in 2 days. Recipe on Tuesday.

Oops?

I can’t believe this week is Thanksgiving already – it’s so early this year! – but I love that I get to enjoy our Christmas decorations for a while longer. I’m crossing all my crossibles that E gets out of shift work in time to help us pick out a tree on Friday (FRIDAY!!!!) and I can’t wait to put up our combination Caroline’s party/holiday stuff. Winter sparkle snowflake woodland fairies FOREVA.

I’ve been doing this for more than 2 years now, and I’m a little sad it seems to be dying out now that Amy handed the linky off to me. So PLEASE please consider joining, even if you haven’t done it before. I’ll be around to read everyone’s posts and comment.
