Merry & Bright {Thanks to Minted}

What goes into a great Christmas card photo?

Here’s what: Semi-coordinated outfits for the whole family that were totally planned around my husband’s clothes after he picked which tacky beer sweatshirt he was going to wear that day so he couldn’t complain I made him wear semi-coordinated outfits.
Breaking the LCD screen AND the top screen on my camera so I can’t see how to switch to remote mode, which meant picking a timer at random, pushing the button, running like a crazy person and grabbing the 3 year old all in 10 seconds.
Shouting LOOK AT THE CAMERA LOOK AT THE CAMERA while the other nice, normal families out looking for Christmas trees said silent thank you prayers that I wasn’t related to them.

So what do you do with a great Christmas card photo?

You find the perfect card to put it on. Like one of these amazing choices from Minted.

The FONTS. Seriously, I’m a huge nerd for a good font.

Besides beautiful design, Minted has great shapes way beyond rounded corners (although they have those too!); flat, folded or story cards; several different paper options and the ability to customize your message so “Merry Christmas” becomes “Happy Hanukkah” or “Season’s Greetings” or whatever you want. They also have an amazing “find it fast” tool where you can upload your photo ONCE and see it on all the cards, which makes browsing for the perfect choice a breeze.

Now my biggest problem is making a decision. Maybe I should try converting my photo to black and white first. Or maybe I should try to take one in front of the twinkle lights on our tree. Or maybe I should use one of just the kids.

Or maybe I should just go with option number 4 and call it a day.

The kind people at Minted offered me a store credit to order my Christmas cards in exchange for my honest review of their site and designs. All opinions and words are my own.

    The find it fast feature is so cool! I was just playing around with that today.

    I like your family photo in color. You know what might be cool given the lighting? If you went retro with some cross-processing!

      I brightened it up/retro’d it a little in photoshop…and ordered option #4 just now. You’ll be getting one!

    Be honest, how many shots did you take to get one where everyone was looking?? (Super cute!!)

      This was actually my FIRST SHOT. I took like 4 or 5 more afterwards but Caroline and Evan had already lost interest.

    Hey, it could be a lot less classy than Yuengling. Also, your family is so adorable it gives me all the feels.
