My Week(42) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Lots of food and baby face photos this week. Both are delicious.

Sunday:

It must have been E's morning to get up with the kids because there's no way *I* dressed the kid in stripes and plaid.

Wii Basketball counts as both exercise and toddler entertainment

She looks vaguely distressed at being naked. HOLD ON TO THAT FEELING, at least until you're 30.

Monday:

Bossing everyone around after Stroller Strides

All the naptime essentials: blanket, milk, dump truck, fire truck.

Caroline really looks up to her friend Maddie. BA-DUM-CHING.

FaceTime with Daddy, who was out of town for work.

Pasta with herbed butter, goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes. My FAVORITE summer meal (especially since I had actual fanct heirloom tomatoes!) but E hates it.

Tuesday:

I wasted a dollar on the merry-go-round in exchange for my kid putting his shoes back on.

HEY MOM WHATCHA DOIN???

Fun fact: E and I had one of our first dates at Sticky Fingers in Charleston, so I always buy the sauce when they have it at Stop & Shop.

Wednesday @Mystic Seaport:

The Amistad. Like from the movie. I think. One of my friends was the only woman to help build it. I think. Wow, I am FULL of facts. Maybe.

Playing pirates with Maddie in the children's building

This game is called Skittles. It's really dumb. E was OBSESSED.

Thursday:

Stroller Strides. NO PICTURE PLEASE.

Feeding the ducks at Oldeeee Mystickeee Villageeee. The extra "e"s make it AUTHENTIC.

I guess she got over her issues with nudity.

Friday:

Look kids, this is what we used in the old days, before Pinterest. YES PLEASE FALL.

What are you waiting for, a written invitation? It's nap time Mama!

Squash at the CSA. For eating, not just decoratively arranging as a centerpiece. Which is what I do.

Baby Faux Hawk

Saturday:

Sponge Bob Coma. Blame the husband.

Vanilla french toast for breakfast

Finishing up my living room redecorating

The recipe for Monday’s pasta is ripped out of a Rachel Ray magazine, but here it is online. E was gone Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, which might have made this the longest week of my life. By Friday I had given up on leaving the house and succumbed to endless Nick Jr for the toddler and nursing for the baby. The rest of this weekend will be spent on the cleaning and laundry I neglected in favor of naps and hiding in the bathroom taking deep breaths. I’m hoping to have my colorful new living room photos up on Monday, a new recipe later in the week and video of Caroline being adorable somewhere in between. Cross you fingers for a tantrum-free Saturday so I can get my sanity back!

My Week(40) in iPhone Photos

Monday, August 8th, 2011

My weekly recap of camera photos is officially full term, so even if this is two days late I can’t possibly skip it. Rest assured there are a minimum of BlogHer pictures – those get their own post. Posts. Postsssssssssss.

Sunday:

Reading blogs & watching Shark Week is officially the BEST way to spend a Sunday

Pulling up. EVEN WORSE than the crawling. I swear I'm going to staple her to the ground.

Weight Watchers approved dinner: dijon pork chops. SUPER delicious.

Monday:

I felt guilty I was leaving so I bought them toys. Caroline realizes theres a future in this.

Packing. I brought way too many shoes. The sparkly notebook, however, was a wise choice.

Serious toddler is serious.

Tuesday:

Caroline's fan club at Stroller Strides. I am RUINING this child.

Not yet fried green tomatoes at the CSA.

Disguisting green slime on my feet during my "spa" pedicure. Should have been called a spew pedicure. BA-DUM-CHING.

Wednesday:

Sometimes your sister is so cute you can't stop yourself from hugging her

This is the stupidest playground equipment ever. The kids get to sit on a platform and the parents have to work to turn the super-stiff crank so they move. Playground! Ur doin it rong!

Shoeless Hobo Baby: The Sequel

Thursday:

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go (with plenty of colored fine-tip Sharpies for some unknown reason)

Leeeeeavin' on a jet plane! You're welcome for the earworm BTW.

Taken out the window of a taxi driven by a guy with a death wish going 65 down a highway full of STOPPED TRAFFIC. I win at iPhone photograhy.

Friday:

Things you don't see in Connecticut: tropical streams running through the pool area of a bayfront hotel

View from my hotel room. I told E I think the next time he gets orders we should ask for San Diego. (Five years from now, FYI)

Fire pit, wine, wrappers from two super delicious red velvet cupcakes I shoved into my face hole. This sums up most of BlogHer.

Saturday:

Bob Harper. He was extremely good looking and charming. And also kicked my ass.

Queen Bee Market. It is also going to get an entire post. SO CUTE.

Delicious dinner organize by my friend Eileen. It was so great to sit and chat and drink cocktails at a table with NO HIGHCHAIRS. I ate my weight in fresh ahi tuna.

After an extremely long travel day yesterday I am so happy to be home, although adjusting to normal life is surprisingly hard. Why has no one told me they like my hair? What do you mean my boob tattoo that says “Internets! Hell yea!” is inappropriate for the grocery store? Where are my free Twizzlers? Ah well, back to mom life I go. Until next year. NYC in 2012 Baby!

My Week(36) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Sunday:

We went up to Plymouth, Mass to see E's family. Helloooooo lunch.

The Massachusetts relatives live in an old Cape a block from the beach that's FULL of fantastic antiques like this stuff, but still super casual and beachy. I have house envy.

TOTAL MELTDOWN on the way home was temporarily calmed with Mama's iPad.

Monday:

Delicious, healthy, Weight Watchers approved breakfast to start our Super! Fun! Day! at the Seaport!

And then this happened.

Hanging out in bed at 7 pm. Because I am lame. Literally.

Tuesday:

I put the toddler to work cleaning the house while I lay on the couch.

Nursing bebeh, sexy hospital sock

Wednesday:

That, my friends, is an empty laundry basket because my husband did all the laundry while I was injured.

Our nephew came to visit & entertain the baby

Then we entertained him with the Kinect (while wearing Evan's baby sunglasses of course)

Thursday:

Caroline watching The Colbert Report.

Maybe if I hide my new shoes behind E's stuff he won't notice!

I bought this dress at Target. It is very very comfortable and possibly makes me look pregnant.

Friday:

Are we ever going to leave this DAMN HOUSE?

Roasted sweet potatos for the baby. Note: 22 minutes is too long - they turn into mush and she can't grab them.

Bebeh toooooooes

Now I have TWO kids who keep trying to take my iPhone

Saturday:

Finally made it to the Seaport & Little Evan got to ride on a boat

Look what I got it in mail! More Uff Da goodness to add to my collection. I mean CAROLINE'S collection.

I found a local consignment shop. I am in love. These were SIX DOLLARS.

My ankle/foot/leg is feeling much better, thanks for all your well wishes and questions – and a HUGE thanks to my husband for letting me sit on the couch for 2 full days so I could let it heal. I’m still not going to be running for a while (or even walking very fast) but I think I can get back to my normal life on Monday.  I’m also going to have to get back to Pennywise in Mystic, the FABULOUS consignment store I finally visited today while I sent the rest of the family down to the Seaport. It’s a small shop but totally packed with awesome finds – besides the polka-dot Steve Madden wedges, I got a pair of super comfy black heels (also $6), a cool swingy tunic top ($9) and another bright colored maxi dress with pockets ($18). I was really excited Pennywise had lots of stuff in my (spoken: large-ish) size – normally there’s an abundance of tiny clothes but nothing to fit over my boobs. Now we’re all taking a little siesta before hitting the river for a little afternoon boating. I hope your weekend is going as well as mine!

My Week(33) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Sunday:

Caroline has a giraffe on her head, Caroline has a giraffe on her head, Caroline has a giraffe on her head and she keeps it there all day
Goodwill shopping, where I did NOT buy this muumuu, even though it looked really really comfortable and had pockets
There was this much wine left after dinner. So I drank it. From the bottle. Wicked classy.

Monday:

Caroline has a lion on her head, Caroline has a lion on her head, Caroline has a lion on her head and DAMN YOU LAURIE BERKNER.
Her shirt says “sunshine” but her face says “I will cut you”
I FINALLY started to sort/wash/put away baby girl clothes – this is about 25% of them.

Tuesday:

Chillin’. No pants. That’s how I roll.
Sprouted mung bean and lentils with olive oil, lemon juice and garlic scapes. I WIN THE HEALTHY LUNCH AWARD.
Cuddles!

Wednesday:

Sibling cuddles!!
Baby in a laundry basket
Rain boots are a good subsitute when you don’t have hockey skates.

Thursday:

Somebody woke up all smiley.
Who gives a crap about the stupid fish at the aquarium when there are stupid little remote control boats to freak out about?

Friday:

5 AM is a GREAT time to read a book about trucks!
Tired, feverish baby fell asleep on the floor. Poor baby.
Hello knitting, I’ve missed you

Saturday:

WE’RE GOING STREAKING!!!
I tried wearing make-up. I don’t think I like it. My face feels heavy and it doesn’t seem to help.
Tiny cameraman says this isn’t a good angle for you, Mom.

Our weather has been hit or miss all week, but I’m hoping the thunderstorms hold off long enough today for some outdoor family time and cute father-kid pictures. I need one for my Father’s Day craft project/present. Yes, I know Father’s Day is tomorrow but it wouldn’t really be MADE WITH LOVE unless it was also made at 10 pm the night before. Love likes to procrastinate.

My Week(32) in iPhone Photos

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

Tons of photos comin’ attcha! Prepare yourselves!

Sunday:

I banished all the shoes to the back porch to try and get some of the patio dirt out of the house.

I made E go through my summer cookbooks & mark recipes he'd like to try

Bitey McBiterson

Monday:

I bought Little Evan a balloon as a "Thanks for behaving well even thought mommy is a freaking idiot" present. I lost my wallet (AGAIN) and dragged both kids all over creation looking for it. I found it.

Sad baby tears - don't worry, this was after I put a boob in her mouth & she stopped crying.

I own stretchy headbands to match any possible outfit.

We drove through downtown where some film company was making a zombie movie. I was disappointed we didn't see any zombies.

Tuesday:

Washing hands is the best part of using the potty.

I declared this the time out chair and used it. A lot.

Beautiful day for a walk. My favorite house in my neighborhood.

I'm so happy summer is here.

At Town Farm Organic to pick up our CSA share

Wednesday:

I acted fancy for a playdate at my house and made a fruit plate. My kid was STOKED.

Fat baby loves her blankie, even though it was 96 degrees.

As soon as Little Evan sees a cart like this at the store it is ALL OVER. He starts screaming for the "SEAT! SEAT!!!!"

This was the first time I've ever grilled anything myself. These brats were delicious.

Thursday:

I put her down next to the blanket on the left. WHO MOVED MY BABY?

Reading "Caps For Sale" to himself. "Red hat, blue hat, no no no, monkey AHAHA!"

I've been a spray painting fool when it comes to stuff for the patio.

AND NOW SHE'S SITTING UP TOO. STOP IT WITH THE GROWING UP.

Friday:

I am using the boppy the EXACT SAME WAY as I type this caption right now.

"Stop sitting on Caroline! That's your sister, not the dog!" - things I did not know I had to say to my child

BIKE BIKE BIKE BIKE. We're still working on the fine art of pedaling.

One last trip to the local nursery for a few more plants.

The name of that wine is "Relax". Enough said.

Saturday:

When you get up at 5:45, sometimes laying on the floor is necessary.

Despite the threat of rain we took advantage of Connecticut's Open House day & checked out Gillette Castle.

Happy baby is happy.

It’s been a week of ups and downs (and I don’t just mean the temperature) but it’s definitely ending on a high note with the castle visit – despite E’s job making him go in today. Boo. But it’s kind of cold and drizzling so at least we aren’t missing perfect boating weather. I would definitely call it excellent napping weather, so as soon as I can convince this baby to just STOP TRYING TO CRAWL for a few minutes I will be catching a few zzzz’s. Hope your weekend is full of fun and naps too!
