Shabby Apple $50 Gift Card Giveaway!

Monday, June 18th, 2012

Hello friends! This week and next and uh, the one after that too are going to be a little crazy for me and the ginger babies, so I apologize if I don’t get as many posts up as usual. But since the two people who read every day – my friend Erin and my Mom – are going to be with me for at least part of that time I doubt anyone sends me hate mail over a lack of aquarium pictures and iphone photo posts.

But today, because it’s Monday and because I like pretty things, I have a giveaway for you from Shabby Apple! Have you seen them around the interwebs? They sell adorable, vintage inspired clothes, bathing suits and accessories for women. They also have maternity and kid’s clothes, although I refuse to let myself spend too long looking at the Shabby Baby page because I want to buy ALL THE THINGS.

I mean, COME ON. Seriously:

Midnight Princess dress

Or for a stylish mama:

Crosswalk Skirt

Or how about this one?

Pina Colada dress

Gorgeous right? So how about $50 to spend on anything your fashionable little heart desires? I’m super bummed I can’t win this myself – new dress for BlogHer what!? – but I giving it to one of you is even better. Or if you want to go shop now, use the code bebehblog10off to get 10% of your order!

To enter, please Like Shabby Apple’s Facebook page and then leave me a comment here saying you did!

Steppin’ Out: Fancy Casino Night

Monday, May 28th, 2012

So this weekend my friend Erin visited and we went…well…everywhere. I’ve got a super cool giveaway coming up from Connecticut Tourism so I’m saving three dozen (or maybe slightly more) of the photos for that post but I have a VERY pressing question for you today:

Formal shorts – A Thing or Not A Thing????

Close up of my shorts

On Suzanne:

Shirt: Dress Barn
Shorts: Old Navy
Shoes: ModCloth
Purse: Jason Wu for Target
Necklace: Target

I didn’t actually ask Erin to give me a rundown of her entire outfit because that would have been sort of weird. So maybe she can tell us where she got that really cute dress in the comments.

I told E I was going to wear formal shorts and he laughed at me. I say they’re just as good as a skirt except more comfortable with less of a chance of accidentally flashing my underwear when I fall off my RIDICULOUS shoes.

Either way, I like them. Unfortunately they were not lucky formal shorts. Stupid magic unicorn slot machine took all my money. True story.

Steppin’ Out: Birthday Date

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

You know you are getting kind of desperate for adult-only time when you dress up to go to Friendly’s and to the movies. This was my attempt at CASUALLY fancy, like “Oh, this old thing? I wear this to weed the garden! These are my dishwashing shoes! I always carry a giant clutch when I’m jogging!” but I don’t think I fooled anyone.

Scarft: H&M
Dress: Old Navy
Shoes: Missoni for Target
Clutch: Krust
Cuff bracelet: Spiffing Jewelry

Evan’s wearing Christmas jamz and having a great time playing with the camera remote.

When I add the pink to my hair this time I left it on a lot longer so it is REALLY pink. I also dyed the rest of it blonde (blonder) a few days ago, although it STILL isn’t the color I was going for. I think when it grows out a little and my roots look terrible I’m going to have to suck it up and go get it done by a professional. Or maybe I’ll start buying Sun-In by the gallon and bleach it the way I did in college. HAWT.

p.s. The Hunger Games was amazing. As was the enormous chocolate peanut butter sundae I shoved into my face for dinner.

Easter Fashion Flashback Linky!

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

I sort of hope my sister is currently in the part of Africa that doesn’t have an internet connection, because she’s going to think I am intentionally posting bad pictures of her on the internet. The truth is ALL the childhood pictures of her are bad. See? Not my fault! Much better! Apparently she did not like being told to pose, while I was practicing smiling with my eyes by the time I was 4. That comes as a surprise to absolutely no one who knows us.

And now, a brief history of Easters Past in the Glidden Household:

1987? 88?

I suspect I had white patent leather shoes, a matching purse and possible a pair of gloves to go with this outfit. I also suspect we lived in Long Island and it was 30 degrees on Easter. My folks still have that clock.

Awkwardly posed photo is awkward. It looks like I’ve Instagramed this photo but I assure you it came by its faded, aged look honestly. If Instagram wants to steal that specific yellow tone they could call it “Shoebox”.

Hey, remember when you had to take pictures with film you then had to have developed at a store and sometimes people screwed up your photos? If you say “no, I’ve always used digital” we can’t be friends anymore. I am not sure why my mom dressed Drew in a football sweatshirt for Easter, but I’m sure Jesus understood it was meant as a compliment. The dress I am wearing in this photo is in Caroline’s closet upstairs.

April 1993, which makes me 11

PROOF I WAS WEARING MILK-MAID BRAIDS BEFORE THEY WERE COOL TAKE THAT HIPSTERS. I thought that dress was the bee’s knees. I remember thinking the only thing that could possibly make me look any cooler was pierced earrings and how it was SO UNFAIR my mom wouldn’t let me get my ears pierced until I was 13.  The piano in the background is the one I have now in my dining room.

I sort of suspect frilly dresses and bonnets and flowers tucked into braids weren’t on everyone’s Easter to-do list so Amy and I might be the only two joining this linky, but if you can track down your spring-type pictures please feel free! We’ll leave it open for a week.
