My husband does this thing where he sits right next to me on the couch and checks my blog. I often point out to him if he hasn’t SEEN me blogging it probably didn’t happen, because my hands are pretty full during the day. He still checks it. I mean, at least it’s nice to have a loyal reader even though I suck at updating?
Sunday:
Little boy in a big bed
Obviously very good at Sundays
Decorating their new marble jars
Monday:
There are at least 2 dozen people who had my old password saved in their phones, so this will make the new router easier for everyone

He is a fan of baby yogurt
Tuesday:
Toddlersplaining granola bars to me

WHO WANTS TO WATCH MOANA AGAIN?

Friday:

Couch naps
The sunset was really pretty but I was too tired to go outside to take a picture

Sleeping in a closet
Superheroes vs Jedi
It felt like spring today, but the rest of the week is going back to miserable and cold. At this point, even my mega-dose of Vitamin D every day isn’t going to be able to keep me from becoming despondent. I NEED SUNSHINE AND WARMTH. I am a lizard who is going to die if I can’t warm my body naturally. Or at least I feel like one, because our heat has made the air in the house so dry my face is starting to peel off.

Why does he suddenly look SO BIG??

This house comes with a disembodied floating head!
Twins
I had a really busy weekend, especially today, and I’ve been able to mostly avoid the news and the internet. Not enough to miss what’s been going on, but enough that I haven’t let myself think about how sad I am for our country and the world my children are growing up in. Mostly I’m just going to keep the kids away from as much reality as possible so they can continue to live in a world where we only use kind words and problems can be solved with hugs.

By the end of today, we’ll officially have a first grader AND a second grader in the house. How does this even happen?? It’s really inappropriate. It’s a good thing Linc will never grow up and leave me. Right? RIGHT?????
Both kids are ending the year on really great notes, even though there were some hard days and Evan struggled a little with his social skills and his reading. I’m still really, really happy with our magnet school and the opportunities it gives them to enjoy art, music and STEM activities as part of their curriculum every single week.
Because I am a true End Of The Year Mom, we almost missed the bus this morning because I was taking photos on the sidewalk instead of standing at our stop. I also forgot to feed them breakfast, but let’s be honest – I almost ALWAYS forget to feed them breakfast. School provides free breakfast to everyone and probably does a better job than I would anyway. They’re also getting last-day-of-school school lunch today, which I assume is “eat all the leftover ice cream from the freezers”, but is better than what I had to pack (nothing).
CAN YOU TELL HOW READY WE ARE FOR SUMMER??
(First day of school post for comparisons here)

This morning when I got in the car to go to a session the temperature said -3. Not 3 degrees below freezing, 3 degrees below ZERO. It barely warmed up during the day. Our furnace is struggling to keep the house warm and I really wish I never had to leave my couch nest of blankets ever again.
Sunday:
Nursing break during Mardi Gras Sunday at church
Evan really liked the parade
Visiting a friend on the maternity ward
Monday:
Checking out the snow
THREE CHILDREN playing trains together
Linc feels the same way I do about crunches
Tuesday:
Eating candy because his mother is a sucker
He says he’s ready to go play in the snow
No problem loving his own face
Wednesday:
I DON’T CARE IF IT’S SNOWING GO TO SCHOOL
There WAS a cat sitting back there
*ALMOST* 100% on the sight words!
Thursday:
BRB Googling flights to Hawaii
Naptime friends
Celebrating Daddy’s birthday
Friday:
Lincoln-date at the carousel
And at Red Robin (YUM)
And then my Valentine’s came early!
Saturday:
God Bless iPads so parents can sleep in
These two *heart eyes*
And these two!
LOOK AT THAT I GOT MY IPHONE POST DONE ON SUNDAY. I’m very impressed with myself. Now I’m going to go find some more blankets to hide under because it’s negative something degrees again and I do not like it. Even my winter layer isn’t keeping me warm anymore. Maybe I should eat another piece of that leftover cake from E’s birthday.
Because that seems like a much nicer option than cleaning up the house the kids trashed when they still have two days before they go back to school.

First full week of school, last weekend of the summer. The transition is going as well as I can expect, which is to say the kids are taking turns being COMPLETLY exhausted and having breakdowns. And Linc thinks he’s suddenly grown.
Sunday:
PUMPKIN SPICE ATTACK
Babywearing runs in the family
Big kid doing big kid stuff
Monday:
Driving the playscape
Don’t look so judgy baby, it’s just a liquor store run.
Climber
Tuesday:
Apparently he’s allergic to…something? I think it’s the baby wipes.
School is EXHAUSTING
He’s obsessed
Wednesday:
I tried wearing lipstick. Linc thinks it’s a mistake. I think I agree.
OMG GUISE THIS BRIDGE THING BOUNCES
I joked that he was going to sleep in her bed and she was not amused
Thursday:
Jogging! For like, 4 seconds. But I want credit.
Connecticut ends here
I’M TRAPPED IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION
Friday:
His new favorite spot
Niantic is adorable
The kids were super excited about the babywearing in this book.
Saturday:
Apparently no one else wanted to spend a gorgeous Saturday at the lake. Idiots.
I brought all the car wraps in to wash them. Such a pretty pile.
So I guess he’s just big now.
We have one last #lakelife day tomorrow as long as Evan doesn’t sleep the entire day. Or I do. 8 hours of sleep would be a dream come true and because Linc didn’t get ANY nap today I have my fingers crossed he’ll let me sleep in. Our fall activity schedule starts this week and then goes into full crazy mode next week so I need as much rest as I can get. I’m already reminding myself that I did this to myself and it won’t last forever. I suspect in the spring we’ll sign up for exactly zero things to recover.
