This week Lincoln turned 1 and I started freaking out because summer feels almost over.
Sunday:
Target is easier when you can tie one kid to your back and bribe the other two with Icees.
All the kids love the Boppy
Lake Baby
Monday:
Sunflowers for Wishes is beauitful
Caroline dressed up for our wagon ride
I made the mistake of asking them to take a nice picture.
Tuesday:
Party planning
We have a LOT of clicky things from Wendy’s kids’ meals now.
This might have been the last time he napped nicely.
Wednesday:
If you look closely you can see my baby playing with his new 7 year old BFF.
Baby’s first deli cheese
It turns out clean and shopping is pretty good exercise
Thursday:
OK, I’M ONE NOW, I’M GOING SWIMMING
Birthday’s are exhausting
Bumpa will read you alllllll the books
Friday:
The bones of The Australia at Mystic Seaport
Figureheads
Using my camera to check and see if Linc is asleep yet. NOPE.
Saturday:
I’m proud that all my party guests noticed my sling matched the decor
He had a really good day
He has sad eyes because he tried to eat the lit candle, but eating an entire mini-cake cheered him up.
Linc’s first birthday party is over and it was SUCH a success. We were completely done and ready for our guests before they arrived (this never happens) and I got to relax and drink champagne while the kids screamed their heads off on the bounce house. My parents and E’s parents were both here which meant we had TWO grown ups per child – not to mention all the dads that Linc conned into picking him up and carrying him around. He’s really good with dads.
We’ve got some vacation coming up and I cannot waaaaaait. But first I have to get all those party photos sorted and posted, or they’ll end up in the file with the rest of this month’s fun activities and no one will ever see them. What good is a cool party theme without a blog post?!

Hello. It is summer.
Sunday:
Morning lap naps because we have no where to be
Sports!
She’s very good at selfies
Monday:
Our Mystic day started at the aquarium
Then I tied my baby to a chair to eat grilled cheese…
Then Caroline decorated a whale at the seaport
Tuesday:
I’M A BIG KID
LOOK AT ME BEING BIG
Being a big kid is exhausting
Wednesday:
That whale is definitely trying to eat her
Caroline thinks sitting is boring
LINC THINKS SITTING IS VERY EXCITING
Thursday:
Bed stealer
Perfect
One Caroline to push 3 babies. She’s got it.
Friday:
So grown
Evan is doing is presentation about Seaport Camp and explaining his picture looks like that because he “only works in black and sometimes very very dark gray”.
Babies do not have good table manners
Saturday (Happy Fourth!!):
The Mayflower!! Linc is unimpressed because he knows it’s a replica.
Matching dresses are awesome
We stayed up waaaaaaay too late
And on that note, I am going to bed. The weekend was fun but exhausting and NO ONE has taken a real nap in more than a week. I need at least 6 hours of sleep in a row if I have any chance of functioning this week. Good night!

Holiday weekend = I don’t even know what day it is anymore. E had Friday off but is at work today, but was home for Saturday and Sunday so we were out of the house the WHOLE time. This is the first time I have even touched my laptop. I sense that might happen a lot this summer, since our default activity is “swimming at the lake” and that means way less screen time. Not a bad thing.
Sunday:
Sleep in the morning
Sleep in the afternoon
Party all night!
Monday:
If there is water around, this child will end up in it.
Downtown New London
This is her swim pose, according to her
Tuesday:
Shouting at the neighbors
I’m hoping the baby is cute enough to make up for my crow’s feet. SHEESH.
LOUNGING
Wednesday:
So pale he’s translucent
There were like 50 of these photos on my phone. I’m guessing Caroline took them.
Freeze pop time
Thursday:
Those socks are ridiculously small
IS THIS SCHOOL YEAR OVER YET?
Boys hanging out, Caroline practicing
Friday:
Princess Caroline wears high heels AND kicks your butt
Getting his summer reading started?
That’s Caroline up in my custom wrap. We ALL love it.
Saturday:
Shoe thief makes a break for the exit
New photo opp at the aquarium
They are both fans of dads wearing babies
I can’t believe I have to pack THREE more weeks of lunches for Evan. I am so, so ready to have the kids home for the summer. I realize in a month and a half I’ll be screaming “OMG WHEN DO THEY GO BACK TO SCHOOOOL??” but right now the beautiful weather + wanting to sleep in + our new lake beach club membership = ready for summer. I just need the water to get a TINY bit warmer so Linc and I can swim/float around. Right now he’s mostly eating sand, which he enjoys on the way in but does not enjoy on the way out.
I’m already 2 days late for Linc’s 10 monthday update post, but I swear I’ll do it this week. I also have two posts with actual words almost done, so this might be a record week for me – I haven’t blogged that much in years. CAN YOU HANDLE IT, INTERNETS? Of course you can. It’s not that interesting.

Sunday, April 19th, 2015
This week was spring break. We didn’t go anywhere in the stay-over-night-on-vacation sense, but we did go do a lot of things. Especially Caroline and I – we are cut from the same cloth that refuses to just sit on the couch on a sunny day. We need to go “do fun things”.
Sunday:
Can’t stop won’t stop visiting the goats (except probably now, since all the baby goats are getting big)
Treat yo’ self
Evening walk
Monday:
Not a real cow
So excited about the zoo he fell asleep
Art in motion
Tuesday:
Band-aids are really exciting
This is not a good wrap job but the wrap is so pretty I don’t care
If you give a baby a flashlight, he will think that is the best thing ever
Wednesday:
During the treasure hunt, a pirate asked them to sing a pirate song, so they both sang “Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!”
That hat though
Seriously. The hat.
Thursday:
I thought a nice long walk would be fun. They disagreed.
Caroline arranged her own storytime at the library, despite the fact that a) she can’t read and b) she doesn’t know that girl
Don’t let the cute messy face distract you from the path of destruction behind him
Friday:
Maybe I should try to teach her to read
Hide out
That’s his concentrating face
Saturday:
She is very disappointed that no REAL birds will get to enjoy the houses she decorated for them
Wearing his new hat while we enjoy dinner on a deck
These kids, you guys
I am BEAT and I feel about a million years old. I wish I could sleep for 24 hours straight. I feel like I’m right on the edge of getting sick and I do not have TIME to be sick. The kids are supposed to start soccer this week but somehow soccer (which is supposed to be Monday/Wednesday) is now on Thursday during the same time as swim. Obviously they can’t be swimming WHILE playing soccer so I’m going to have to get swim moved (there are other swim classes, there’s just one soccer team). But this swim session is really full and it’s going to be SUCH a pain to work out. I’m dreading making that phone call but both soccer and swim cost too much money to just skip. Stupid sports.
The weather is finally warm enough that I’m confident it’s time to switch out everyone’s wardrobes, but that means it’s time to sort out the donate/consign/pass on piles. Just ONE kid’s clothes could keep me busy for a week – and I have 3 kids with way too much stuff. I suspect absolutely nothing from last year will fit anyone (especially Linc, since he didn’t exist this time last year) so I will be forced to buy EVEN MORE stuff. Stupid stuff.
Thank God spring break is over. I’ve become just a whiny as my children.

I am suffering from a severe case of OMFG WHY ISN’T IT WARMER OUTSIDE YET. It’s making me hate everything.
Sunday:
We bought a children’s museum membership basically JUST for this thing
Caroline says this hat is totally her style
Evan takes checkers very seriously
Monday:
I bought a new rug
Go away Mommy
LASHES
Tuesday:
Baby in a cage with a sister to entertain him = I can get stuff done
Meeting the fishes
Caroline said he needed to be more stylish
Wednesday:
I had to put the baby in a stroller, so I put a wrap over him.
Giant boxes are the best part of childhood
Possibly regretting the demo he just did in the dining room because now he HAS to build that bench I asked for (stay tuned…)
Thursday:
Reading her horse book to her horses
Attitude for days
Officially the cutest Tula
Friday:
THERE IS A SKUNK IN THIS PICTURE
She wanted to participate in our babywearing meetup
It snows for TWO DAYS
Saturday:
Helping with the bench
Pizza picnic
Then THIS happened and decided I needed more babies immediately
I am seriously having a hard time caring about anything right now because I’m so done with winter. If I could open the front door and let the kids play on the porch I would be SO READY to do some spring cleaning but since it’s 28 degrees out I just want to go take a nap. And I don’t want to cook anything. Or go anywhere. Or talk to anyone. Or blog about anything.
The kids and I are all playing hooky tomorrow because half day + appointments + cranky baby = too much of a mess to handle. I’m hoping it resets everyone’s attitude because we ALL need it.
