I just went to the freezer to get some ice cream and discovered it was totally melted. At first I was just sort of annoyed that I was going to have to wait an hour or two for my vanilla soup to re-harden. Next I was pissed one of us had left the freezer open a tiny bit and wasted all that electricity. Then I remembered the 100 or so ounces of frozen breastmilk¬† in storage bags. Did you know you can’t refreeze breastmilk once it’s thawed? It’s all ruined. I actually cried and had to have E dump it out. It took me two months of pumping to build up that stash and I’m finally at the point where my body has stopped overproducing milk like crazy. My frozen breastmilk was my safety blanket, my insurance policy in case of emergency. I know it sounds silly but this is seriously the most traumatic baby-related thing that has happened so far.

  1. There’s gotta be something you can do with it all. Breastmilk cheese?

I am so sorry. That totally sucks! I cried when I pumped and Ethan or Carter didn’t finish the 3 oz, so 100 oz makes me weep for you! Just remember that all that pumping helped to establish your milk production, so it wasn’t a total waste. Again, so so sorry!

    Oh damn, that’s so sad!

You could have kept it and made soap out of it, though.

I picked up Nick this morning and whacked his head against something hard enough to make him bleed. I cried longer than he did. I have a BITCHING migraine today, though, and was VERY glad when my MIL could take him for the day. Because seriously. It hurt to breathe. And I was afraid of smacking him into something else.

Is it bad that the first thing that went through my mind when she started crying was “Really, crying over spilled (or frozen) milk?”

LOL, not bad, kind of clever, actually! I’m sorry Suzanne, that SUCKS!
