It’s one of those foods that a lot of people freak out about, which is understandable if you have a family history of allergies. But since we delayed ALL solids for so long and have no known nut allergies on either side (I’m much more worried about eggs) I started giving him tiny amounts around 13 months. I’m incredibly glad he likes it – peanut butter sandwiches on whole wheat bread is one of the healthiest thing he eats!
Do you guys have egg allergies in the family or are they just particularly bad?
Reid seems to be allergic to pineapple. He broke out in hives. It sucks cause pineapple is so yummy!
I had a cousin who was allergic to eggs (also: wheat, strawberries, milk happiness, breathing) and Evan’s sister had a lot of sensitivities as a child. I just tried a little bit of scrambled egg a while back and his face and neck got a weird rash – not really hives but spots. I’ve given him lots of stuff with egg IN IT, but I’m holding off on straight eggs for a little while longer.
It’s practically all he eats. An entire peanut butter sandwich every morning, and sometimes another after nap. If you don’t make/give them fast enough he throws a fit. It’s hilarious/awful.
Baby Evan!! Eating FOOD!! With a smile on his face!!! YAY! Love the photos and love that you are brave enough to give him peanut butter. I am scared to death mostly because I am allergic to sea food and peppers and Bresho is allergic to egg whites.
I read your comment about the eggs (there is no REPLY thingy so I couldn’t reply there)… Bresho’s allergy to eggs started with a runny nose and sneezes and then he got red spots (not hives). He seemed to be really itchy and uncomfortable. He can eat baked eggs (like in a cake) which is supposed to be normal for kids who are allergic to eggs… it’s an allergy that goes away (in most cases) by the time they are six. Anyway, it’s always a good idea to keep benadryl handy… we learned this the hard way :(
xxo!
Bonjour! No I'm not French, it just sounded fancy. Sorry for the confusion. I'm Suzanne, a 37-year-old karate mom, cheer mom, photographer, Navy wife, blogger, baker, and amateur at pretty much everything else. The stars of the show are Evan, born 4/5/09, Caroline, born 12/19/2010 and Lincoln, born 7/23/2014. The last bebeh is Finnegan, born 8/30/2016 so he's a toddler now but don't talk to me about that. We live in Connecticut and enjoy it very much except for most of February and March. I love hearing from you so if you have questions, stories or ideas to share, email me at bebehblog@gmail.com .

cute! we haven’t tried the peanut butter yet… but since evan looks like he’s enjoying it so much, we might have to give it a try!

If I gave T a piece of bread slathered with PB would it be:
a) all over the floor
b) all over the dog
c) all over the walls
d) all over me
The answer, just all over! You are brave!!!!!
The trick is to to make it a sandwich. A very very well squished together sandwich. Even then it’s still all over him and the floor.
Wow, he is really enjoying it!
Mia may never experience as much joy as baby Evan is experiencing in these photos. My sister has peanut allergies. :(
Well, you can’t go wrong when he enjoys it so much. besides, it’s on the tile floor – and what better task for the dog to handle?
LOVE HIM & his RED HAIR. Too cute. How does he like peanut butter? Hudson wasn’t a fan.
