Not Frowned Upon In This Establishment

I know people are torn on the ETrade baby and whether or not he’s weirdly creepy and stupid or adorable and hilarious, but after the most recent commercial I fall squarely in the adorable category.

Because this baby? Is clearly related to BabyEvan.

19 Weeks and already BEST FRIENDS

Dog Love

LOVE DOG

So every time that commercial comes on, E and I laugh our head off. Then we started shouting the “frowned upon” part. And then Little Evan started actually trying to ride the dog. Which we discouraged.

If by “discouraged” you mean “helped him ride the dog”.

Wheeee!!!

I gave Brutus ALL my pizza crust tonight to make up for this. He hasn't pooped in my shoes yet, so I don't think he minds.

For at least an hour after nap time today, Brutus lay on a blanket on the floor while Little Evan leaned against him and drank two sippy cups full of milk. It’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen and it reminds me that adopting Brutus four years ago wasn’t just luck – it was one of the best things we’ve ever done.

(Apologies for blurry iPhone photos – I had the memory card for the DSLR in the computer so obviously it didn’t work so well when I tried to use it.)

(Uh, and for the record, this post is not in any way sponsored or approved by ETrade.)

I love my furry big brother – and I lean on him all the time! I’m totally not allowed to ride him, though…

The first time I saw the commercial I thought of Evan and Brutus. SOOOOOOOO funny!

  3. Swistle says:

“If by discouraged”–HA HA HA that whole part!

  4. Swistle says:

Also I love your sweet sweet dog.

Oh heavens. Those baby thighs. I forgot about all of their delicious chunkaliciousness.

Also – first picture of Evan on the dog …. is his foot on another, smaller dog? I keep staring at it (when I can tear my eyes away from those thighs) and I cannot figure out what he’s standing on!

  6. I LOVE the e*trade baby!!! That commercial is the funniest one yet. Like, I literally laugh out loud a ton when i see it! Boys and their dogs. Milo and our dog have had a love/hate relationship since the get go!

  7. Ashley R says:

That’s so cute! Elsie tries to ride our dog and we do discourage it…because he is a jack russell terrier and would probably break if she tried.

  8. I grew up with an awesome mutt and when I was little I used to totally throw the afghan on the dogs back and pretend he was a horse.

There is really something to be said about the patience and unconditional love of a pet growing up in a house with a baby/toddler/kid

that commercial is by far my favorite one too! little e should be the new etrade baby! or at least he shoulda been when he was a baby! i love the last pic with his hand in the air! so adorable!

By far my favorite e*trade commercial. I used to think it was creepy but I laugh my hind end off every time I see this one.
Also– I find it ridiculously funny that we have pets with the same name. Our cat’s name is Brutus! And all three of our kids are “DISCOURAGED” from riding the animals. However, the four legged children are still scarred to some degree. I figure I have to pay for therapy for them while I am putting the two legged ones through college. :-)

i tweeted you about this but i adore the dog riding picture

  13. […] on that last one, sadly.) He’s amazing with the kids and lets them climb all over him or ride him like a horse and never complains. He gets fed last and let out to pee last and almost never gets real walks […]

  14. It is a great exercise for the dog. Dog riding allows me to keep my new shoes from getting all chewed up. Doggie is too tired to nimble upon my shoes and furniture. I too adore the dog riding pictures.
