Why Am I Encouraging This?

If you watch this video you will see/hear:

– My super messy kitchen
– My husband’s less than superior iPhone video skills
– My dog eating Goldfish crackers off the floor
– My naked, dirty, just-before-bathtime baby
– My toddler screeching and narrating in the background
– My 8 month old standing
– My dress hiked up rather inappropriately as I sit on the floor
– My goofy, high pitched, talking to a baby voice

AND

– Caroline taking one tiny independent step

  2. raincheckmom says:

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW….

  3. Krista says:

STOP IT . Stop it right now. These babies are getting too big too fast. If yours is standing and taking steps, what’s next for me? AHHH!!

PS. She’s adorable! And little Evan in the background, saying “all fall down” is my favorite part.

  4. Kimberly says:

So sweet! She is so ready to take off! I am terrified of O walking, but I love seeing those first wobbly steps.
We discourage hubby from taking the video here because he forgets to look at the screen and ends up taping the floor. We have way too many home videos that look like the Blair Witch Project.

  5. Awwww that was adorable! Yay Caroline!!! :)

  6. Amanda says:

Holy crap. Alice is a couple of weeks older than Caroline, and she’s barely as stable sitting down as Caroline appears to be on her feet. Yikes! When people tell me that their children walked at (insert ridiculously low number here) months, I usually roll my eyes and think about how wobbly Alice is and assume they’re baldfaced liars, but maybe I have to rethink that position.

Also, Alice is freakishly huge – like 18 months clothes huge – so I think it’s difficult for her to manage her behemoth-like body, and once she starts to list to one side the momentum is just too great for her to right herself. Yay for tiny walking babies!

Being tiny is DEFINITELY working in her favor. DEFINITELY. Little Evan walked early-ish, but he was such a chubby little lump at first he didn’t even roll over consistently until he was 6 months old. And he almost never crawled. He had to stop getting fatter and start getting taller before he became mobile.

  7. brigid keely says:

Hah! Watch out, they’re going to start running in opposite directions now.

  8. becca says:

but, but, but… she’s too little to be walking/standing! gah! how adorable. and i totally didn’t notice anything else in the video except for miss caroline focusing so happily on her mama! and here i thought walking at 10.5 months was early. you’re in for some fun if it keeps up :)

(oh, and little evan in the background? was too much fun!)

  9. Stacy says:

My favorite thing on earth is seeing tiny little babies walking around! It’s like, “Wait a second, you are WAY too tiny to be on your feet,” and I just get all excited. So cute!!!

  10. Denae says:

Nooo! You are going to have TWO toddlers! The walking running kind! Exiting and scary at once. Caroline is adorable, as usual, and oh so talented. You are going to run out of bebehs and going to need more. =)

  11. Leah says:

Oh my word. She is a buzzillion times cuter in motion. I was not even aware that was possible. I love her “stop letting go!” faces.

    • bebehblog says:

She IS cuter in motion, so I have no idea why I don’t take more video of her. Oh wait, maybe it’s because most of the time she climbing my face or the toddler is stealing the iPhone. That might be it.

  12. Aww! Go, go Caroline! You can have backyard races before you know it!

    • bebehblog says:

As crazy as having two walkers is going to be, they are going to wear each other out SO WELL I kind of can’t wait.

  13. Elaine says:

Looks like she’ll be on the move soon! WOW! :-) So cute… I’m glad you have this cute video to show her later…

  14. Jo says:

Thank you. I am grinning so hard my cheeks hurt. So very precious.

Of course, I’m also horrified. She is only weeks older than Harper. I’M NOT READY!!! ACK!!

  15. Sarah-Anne says:

    way to go, Caroline!! :D
also? i love all the bad things you list at the beginning of the post then the video starts & I totes forget all of it because OMG the baby chub!! nom nom nom. ;)

  16. AHHHH omg so sweet! Makes me want to have more babies, I LOVE all the “firsts”!

  17. So I’m at work and can’t watch the video, BUT MUST WATCH LATER!

  18. molly says:

Oh my Lord. Cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

I loved all your warnings before the video. I laughed so hard I snorted.

  19. Gr my post got deleted. I was saying how cute your baby was and how our littles ones are the same age and he tried to take a step last week but fell (and its probably a bad thing that im happy he fell, im not ready for walking yet)

  20. Cole says:

Whoa, the cute! How is it possible that she is walking already?! Didn’t you just have a Twitter birth, like, YESTERDAY?

Evan saying “all fall down” is maybe the best part of this video!

  21. andrea says:

Such a champ (: Another baby growing up SO fast!! These two are wired to be athletes!
