One less thing to worry about…oh wait

We got some fantastic news today. E made chief! It’s hard to explain to a non-military person what a big deal it is, but once he puts on the rank it takes an act of Congress to be demoted. And we all know how often Congress actually gets stuff done. Secretly, I’m most excited by the fact that now when he dresses up he’ll wear the Tom Cruise uniform from Top Gun. I’m gonna need a copy of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” immediately.

In terms of the baby, this promotion means that I no longer have to work. E’s raise won’t be quite equal to my paychecks, but close enough that I won’t have to rush back to the office after the tadpole is born. It also means we could be transferred as soon as September, so now there’s that to freak out about. I’ll write more later but now we’re going out to dinner to celebrate, and the pregnant woman gets to be DD.

That’s awesome! Congratulations! I hope he isn’t lying on the floor in the downstairs bathroom by the time you read this…

If you get transferred to Charleston I will FREAK OUT from happiness.

Huzzah! It’s v. nice when things just fall into place, no? Now we are just going to need for the Navy (Air Force?) to transfer Mr. Bebehblog to the SC coast. Where there’s a shank, there’s a way.

Sarrible – That is exactly where he is. I checked this morning, and he’s still breathing, so at least he didn’t drink himself to death before he actually gets the promotion.

FF & MBB – There is a chance for Charleston. The Navy’s nuclear power school is in Goose Creek, and we would take a trainning position there in a heartbeat. But I’d rather do that in a year or two and have the bebeh before any moving.

That is FABULOUS! Military promotions always excite me way more than civilian ones, although I couldn’t begin to tell you why. Possibly because of the dress whites he’ll get to wear … mmmmm dress whites …

Congrats on the Captain thing, what a relief for you both!
