Ode to a Sippy

Alas poor Nuby cup, Baby Evan loved thee well. But now the time has come to go to the great dishwasher in the sky, to join in drippy celebration with others who have gone before. Where juice and milk flow in abundance, and no one every throws you on the floor. Farewell dear Nuby, for although your life has been far to short we know it is time to part because….

…THIS? This is just unacceptable. Spill-proof my ass. Piece of crap.

  1. Yeah, we have that sippy too. It should say “spill proof when not shaken or beaten against things.”

Oh no! *giggle* What a great picture, though.

Have you tried the Naglene cup? I found it on Amazon and it seems pretty spill proof. A little challenging to drink through, but I knocked it off my dining room table and nary drop a was spilled.

Yeah eff that cup. We had it too. It was a giant epic failure. The only cup I have found that doesn’t leak is the born free training cups. Except they have a billion parts to wash. And that part sucks.

  5. We are really happy with the munchkin sippy cups…. and Ivy very much likes to bash and throw them everywhere, plus they’re BPA free and only have 3 parts to wash. Also they’re super cheap!

  6. When Lil’ E is a little more advanced you can try these from Playtex: http://www.playtexbaby.com/CupsMealtime/Lil-Gripper/Lil-Gripper-Straw-Cup.aspx

Some annoying small pieces but I put those in my purse with confidence.

I also like these from Gerber: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/192-5602021-7884410?asin=B0033BK72E&AFID=Froogle_df&LNM=|B0033BK72E&CPNG=baby&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

The valve mechanism is simple and it’s not too hard for the kiddo to get liquid out. Not totally spill-proof but the have fared well here. The shape also seems to prevent some leakage when it’s left sitting on its side.

I actually already have two of those straw sippies, but Baby Evan can only figure them out every once in a while. He also stole the generic version of that Gerber cup from a friend the other day so I think I’ll try them out.
