My Week(18) in iPhone Photos

Sunday:

Giant Toddler towers over the tiny dog

Like two peas in a pod. Or two popcorn kernels in a, uh, Popsecret bag.

Monday:

His hockey stick is now a horse, and he gallops around going "NEY NEY NEY!!"

Playdoh playtime! I get the strongest urge to eat it. But I don't. Usually.

Putting his feet up while he gets a little work done on the laptop.

Tuesday:

Eating yogurt with the antique silver. He insists on the best.

Poor Caroline's bald spot is getting out of control. Good thing her face is so cute.

He's like some sort of crazy toddler superhero with those infant sunglasses strapped to his face.

Wednesday:

He reads "That's not my dinosaur!" as "No...no...no...ESSSSS!!"

Brutus enjoyed a break from the rainy weather

BEBEH GIRL SHOES. I want to buy them all. And, uh, maybe that white pair in my size?

Thursday:

Shhh, don't tell her her polka dot camouflage isn't working!

Apparently we needed to play with ALL the toys that morning.

Little Evan recently started loving on the bear I knit for him. And by "loving on" I mean "carrying around to hit people with and/or throw in air while laughing maniacally."

Friday:

We finally - FINALLY - left the house and made it to knit-a-long at Mothers of Purl.

We all watched Toy Story 3, some of us from the couch, some from our desks

Saturday:

Whoa, so many colors. It's like a baby acid trip.

We didn’t actually do much at all this week (because of sickness)(and a little laziness) but I’d say we still had more good days than bad ones. Although we had some really really bad MOMENTS – like when the toddler fell off the couch onto the sleeping infant in her bouncy seat (everyone was ok) or when the toddler hit the infant in the head with a hockey stick, got a time out, was released from time out, hit her in the head AGAIN and then asked joyfully, “TIME OUT?! TIME OUT!?” (everyone was ok again…except for my patience).

Today we went on a hunt for a twin-sized bed to start the transition from nursery to little boy room but didn’t end up buying anything. I don’t know who designs kid’s room furniture but dude, most of that stuff is hideous. Or HUGE. Or is so style-specific it only goes with other pieces from that collection…and I already have a perfectly good dresser and bookcases thankyouverymuch. Don’t furniture retailers realize that by the time a kid is 2 or 3 their parents have already gotten WAAAAY past the “everything in this nursery must match! nothing but the best for my snuggy-wuggums!!” stage? Nursery furniture is where your market is folks. Just make me a nice neutral not-too-high wooden twin bed. Sorry, furniture sales people make me ranty. I think we’re going to end up at Ikea.

Did you take any camera phone photos this week? Link up with one or lots using the linky below and grab the code (so it shows on your blog too!) over at Amy’s. It’s really fun!

    6 coffee cup cozies (sp)
Please let me know if this is poossible.
Fibro prevents me from knitting :(

  2. Wendy says:

I always have the urge to eat playdoh too! Glad I’m not the only one. :)

  3. Sarah-Anne says:

man, i wish i was techy and could figure out how to be one of the cool kids and do this blogging thing. oh well. :)

  4. Kimberly says:

I’ve been so scared to try Playdoh (Will it end up mushed in my carpet? Will he die if he eats it?), but maybe soon.

Oh- and a totally creepy weird side note- while I was shoe shopping for little boys at Target & totally disgusted at the lack of options, I gazed adoringly (jealously) over at the little girl shoes and fell in LOVE with those white ones! I even took a pic on my phone to show hubby why we need to keep having babies until we have a girl! Almost identical to your pic except close up on the white one. When I saw your pic, my first thought was “OMG Suzanne hacked my phone- or my brain- or something”. And then I bought the closest thing I could find for myself: http://bit.ly/gRoY4U

We keep the Playdoh as an “in the high chair only” activity. Also, I only let him play with one color at a time because I DON’T LIKE IT when the colors get mashed together.

I think I might buy those shoes too.

  5. I adore the popcorn picture! And I have decided that toddlers, quite simply, are sociopaths. Spencer’s new thing? Slapping me in the face, while screaming NO SLAPPING, MAMA in my ear. Awesome.

    • Brigid Keely says:

I snorted laughter at the “no slapping, mama” thing.

You MIGHT be pleased to know that 1) this is normal behavior and 2) is actually a good sign: Spencer KNOWS he isn’t supposed to do that (hence the screaming out “no slapping, mama”) but is incapable of not doing it at this time. His self control will come with time. Right now, his brain realizes he is supposed to NOT do it, he is able to verbalize the rule, but his impulse control is not there yet. OR, you might want to sell him to the carnival. Both are valid feelings.

  6. Brigid Keely says:

You have some super adorable kids! The “scalp growing faster than the hair” stage is the worst, though. THE WORST.

Niko’s been doing the same with dumping all his toys, but his location of choice is our really small kitchen. Thanks, bud. That’s… helpful. Like a cat is helpful.

I don’t know what we’re going to do about toddler bed yet. There is a specific type of bed I want to get, and my husband and his father are both capable of making it (yes, with wood. Yes, they have the wood AND all the tools and fasteners they need just lying around. Yes, this has been the case for a year.) but I don’t know if it will actually get made. So I’m keeping an eye out on Craigslist both for what I want specifically (a captain’s bed with drawers underneath and, hopefully, a headboard with a book shelf) but also inexpensive but sturdy twin beds in general.

    • bebehblog says:

The bed my husband and I slept in for the first 3 years of our marriage was the wooden captain’s bed with drawers underneath that his father had made. We had it as a guest until about 5 months ago when we sent it home with my in-laws because we didn’t have the room anymore. My FIL offered to make a toddler bed for Evan too, but in general the style of furniture he makes isn’t really what I have in mind…and his timeline tends to be a little longer than I’m looking for. Like, I got my college graduation present cedar chest almost 2 years after graduation.

OMG look at all the big kid things little E is doing now! Time needs to stand still until I can get up there and enjoy these moments!

  8. Cole says:

My *nursery* furniture doesn’t even match, so I have little hope for my big kid room. My dressers are scavenged from on great grandma, my rocker from another, and my crib is new (and white as opposed to the other stuff’s wood). And Coach built a book rack for me, so nothing is matchy-matchy. Oh, well.

Mommy says she’s glad I’m not the only one who runs around hitting things and doing things I’m not supposed to – all while saying “no no no no!”

  9. Missy says:

I love you! but we NEED to get you the iPhone 4 for some better quality photos!

  10. ummm, E on his laptop & working from his desk is way too freaking cute. you always make me laugh. alllways.
