Name Suggestions Here Please
So, we’re having another boy, which means we need another boy name. This is terrible news, because we have NO boy name ideas.
These are our current boys: Evan Richard (III) and Lincoln Scott. Evan Richard is named after his father & grandfather. Lincoln was MY grandfather’s name and my uncle’s name and Scott was my father’s brother. Scott is also my soon-to-be brother-in-law’s name, although we didn’t choose it specifically for that reason. It’s just one of the ways our family manages to have plenty of people but very few names.
I have two lists at the moment. The Family Name list and the Names I Found That I Would Consider list. The family name list I’ve been keeping sort of hoping something grows on me, but they are mostly nos. There are a lot of good names we like that I feel I can’t/shouldn’t use because other people close to us have used them, but most of those aren’t full-stop-NO-WAY nos.

The definite nos are: Ethan, Carter, Zane, Zachary, Alexander, and whatever my sister-in-law uses when she has her baby in July.
(Sidebar: what’s your feeling on off limit names? If we have a local friend we see at least monthly who has a child named Bob but Bob is 7 years old, that’s still OK, right? But if we have a local friend who has a child named Fred, we see Fred on a weekly basis, and Fred is only 1, that’s probably too close, yes? HOW CLOSE makes a name unusable, is the question.)

So basically my family uses obscure, terrible names and my personal list all falls into the “dog or child?” category. I am still hoping I will stumble across something that makes me feel very strongly, but I’m sort of afraid that’s never going to happen and we’ll just settle. That’s ok though, right? You would think after named three children this would be EASIER instead of harder.
All name discussions, vetos, opinions and suggestions are welcome. PLEASE HELP US.
p.s. Caroline’s middle name is Noelle, if that helps. So the sibling set will be Evan, Caroline, Lincoln and ________. Caroline is named after my sister and my mother-in-law (Carolyn/Carol) as well as maybe a tiiiiiny bit after Caroline Ingalls and Princess Caroline and Caroline Kennedy. But it’s mostly family-based. So something at least family INSPIRED for this baby would be nice.

All of your other kids end in the -en sound, so you may want to continue that pattern; they are also all 2+ syllables, so “Ben” might be out of place, but Benjamin might work. From your lists, I like Hudson Oliver – Oliver being perhaps close enough to Olaf for the family and child preference tie-in?
Also? We have similar taste, it seems. Asher was at the top of a *very* short list for the child who became Nicholas/Cole. Henry is our dog, and Oliver was our pick is Eloise/Lulu had been a boy…
I like a lot of the names on your family list! Particularly Elias, Carl, Oskar, Gideon. And I think using either of those local friend names is fine, so long as you’re prepared for him to be Baby Henry or Baby William. ?
I’m not going to lie…I like Kylo, Ren is out though.
I wanted to name Jack “Declan” but Tim thought it was too weird…so we used it for his middle name. (I don’t understand the logic.)
As far as choosing a name that’s similar or the same as someone you know, I say do what you want. My sister’s son is 6 months older than mine. My nephew is Jaxson and mine is Jack. Only my mom confuses them but then she could never remember her own kids’ names.

Yeah, subsequent baby naming is so hard!! Atticus was earthside before we definitively decided on Atticus Finn. Knox’s name was decided before I hit second trimester. Btw, I love Dash. Knoxs middle name is Daschel. I also like Newell from your family list. I love unusual names.
I love your family names, they are mostly beautiful, wearable and classic rather than trendy. I love Arthur (perfect for knight-themed birthdays), Eric, and Jason. In France right now the most popular names (just to give you a fun multicultural comparison) for boys are Lucas, Enzo, Nathan, Mathis, Louis, Emile and Gaspard.
Oh and in Ashkenani Jewish tradition, it’s bad luck to give your kid the name of someone in your bloodline who is still alive, but otherwise, you can choose any other name. For example, my mother is Alexandra, and had I been a boy I could never have been Alexandre or Alex, or of course Iain after my father.
My second born is Charles Oliver and we call him Charlie, so that gets my vote. ? One name off each list!
Theodore Newell! Or William. Or many of the two-syllable names for the middle. I have a 16 month old Theo and am so so happy with the choice!
On your names you would consider I prefer:

Had to comment when I saw Griffin on your list…my Griffin will be 2 in July, nearly the same age as Linc! But I do like Oskar…and Noah…and Elias…

I like Griffin Charles, but I have a Finnegan and that’s my suggestion. ;)
I like Gideon and Elias, and Love the name Joel. I’m partial to eo/oe combos all around. Theo would be very sweet.
hi! I left a name comment on your announcement post, and I’m glad I guessed at least one name you’re actually considering. I think you should stick to family names tho! There are some GREAT ones in the list! And that way ALL your kids will have family names.

I also vote for a name that ends in a “n” (or contains one near the end.) Kylo Ren would be perfect! Lol But so would Hudson, Anton, Martin and Gideon.

Think Evan, Caroline, Lincoln and Marshall have a good flow. To me, that is the ultimate test.

Ending in the n sound (although I love the consistency) can feel like a mouthful (to me of course) imho
